Jon Jones vs Anthony Johnson Chris Weidman vs Vitor Belfort Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Donald Cerrone Andre Arlovski vs Travis Browne Now that's a stacked fucking card. Of course, between injuries and drug tests, we'll be lucky if we still have one of these fights by fight night. TFK
i aint so worried about that, since vitor looks scrawny and old these days without the TRT it's noticeable. Im worried about injuries.
The main event is excellent, but I'm surprised you guys are excited about the other 3 fights. Weidman will crush Belfort with ease, and surely the same goes for Browne Vs Arlovski. Cowboy Vs Khabib is a decent fight.
I think weidman wins too. But Weidman hasnt fought in a while and Vitor can catch a people cold. I expected Rockhold to walk through vitor, but he got caught. Now sure, it was TRT vitor, but still.
No matter how you slice it, either the Jones or Weidman fights could have been stand alone main events. The fact that they are on the same card is great for fans. That being said, I agree with the other comments. There is 0% chance that all these fights come off as scheduled. People say Gustaffson came the closest to beating Jones. I disagree. Belfort's arm bar was the closest. And On Belfort, I am a huge detractor because of his PED usage. But it's still hard not be impressed with his UFC run since getting KO'ed by Silva. He walked through top guys with no problem. And let's not forget that the last time Rumble Johnson lost, it was courtesy of Vitor Belfort. If the non PED version of Vitor is 75% of the juiced up version, Weidman is going to be tested.
Other than the January 1st card, I would prefer they have one title fight on each ppv. I like title fights and rarely get too psyched for non-title fights. Ironically, Khabib is an exception. I look forward to all of his fights. Superb top 3. Browne should beat Arlovski easily.
Does Anyone Else Find it STRANGE that Bones Jones was EAGER to Face Cormier, will Be Facing Rumble Johnson Shortly Afterwards, yet was RELUCTANT to Give Gustaffson a RE??? Makes No Sense to REED
I think Jones is smart enough to realize that the only difficult fight for him is the one where his height and reach advantages are negated. Absolutely everything Jones does successfully in the cage is rooted in his height/length. If he can't dictate range, his wrestling, counter wrestling and striking all become less dominant.
I agree. Not only this, but Gustafsson demonstrated that he is a tough night for Jones. I think Gus came closer to beating Jones than Vitor, but Vitor obviously came closer to submitting Jones.
Submitting IS beating so I don't think that point makes sense. Obviously Gustafsson came closer to beating Jones through a full striking match whereas Vitor only had that one moment where he nearly won, but the fact remains beating and submitting is the same thing. I agree with Trplsec that Vitor came closest to beating Jones because he had that arm bar all the way in and any other guy would have tapped, but Jones chose injury over a loss and kept going.
If you would have paused that fight at the very point Vitor cranked that arm bar the tightest, I would have bet the house the fight was over. There wasn't a moment in the Gus fight where I would have done the same thing.
No doubt. You could see the split second Jones decided he was gonna let his arm snap rather than tap.
What was the injury on that by the way? Jones didn't seem to be out very long from it. I would have thought it was a bone breaker but maybe just a few ligaments or hyper-extension?
