Dirty? No! But where would they be without Pele, the first modern soccer player? The Sugar Ray Robinson of soccer...

He was a fantastic player who could shoot with both legs with equal power, strong headers, and with incredible stamina and skill. He could break an entire defensive system all on his won. Much harder today where tactics and physical preparation dominate the game.

Pele would get owned today, you are right. George Best would be more successful...the players that are wreaking havoc, true havoc, are the ferrets....the ones with the eye for the angle. George Best, Maradona, these are the true true greats. They will twist and turn and pick your pocket and ride that late tackle for fun.

One pre-fight press conference in LA, then one more on the week of the fight.

It goes to show how uncomfortable he is in the presence of Pacquaio...only one press event and without the public...only press. Floyd doesn't like to hear what the fans have to say and who they want to win this fight.

Right hook will be very important as the straight left for Manny. For the first time, no cameras filming Pacquaio's sparring or work on the mitts. Floyd will be bringing in Chop Chop Corley, who gave him absolute fits when they fought, for sparring.

Thing about the corely fight is it was PBF's aggressive era, when his fights were fun to watch (he was probably super roided up for that one and the n' do u fight). When he got hurt so bad, I'm sure it had him rethinking his approach.

i agree. saying he gave him "absolute fits" kinda implies more sustained success, however.

Judah gave Floyd a good fight for 4 rounds...Corley hurt Floyd a bit in one of their rounds....but otherwise was dominated...

Floyd has a great chin. Corley wasn't a big puncher but hurt Floyd numerous times in their fight. Let's see what Mayweather learned:
Don't use shoulder roll when fighting a southpaw. They could hurt you with the straight left even when you hold your right guard up high.
When he is hit with right hook, he needs to reset, is even more defensive and cant potshot with lead right.
Avoid fighting a southpaw with speed and power at all costs, unless shamed into doing so while still making a lot of money with an older version of whoever that southpaw is.

Mosley hurt him much worse than that in the 2nd(?) round of their fight, imo. That was the worst trouble he's ever been in.

Sparring with a shot-ass chop-chop hardly seems like elite preparation.

    DisagREED...

Corley Caught Floyd with a Counter, and Floyd was Momentarily Out on his Feet, Drunkenly Stumbled Backwards and was FORTUNATE the Ropes were There or Else he'd have Been Deposited on his Back..

To Floyd's Credit, it Brought the Dog Out of him and he Pretty Much Dominated Thereafter, ala, the Mosley Fight...

From what I remember (I haven't seen it in many years) he was stunned by Corley's shot, but still had his wits and legs about him. He moved back and went to the ropes, covered up, and was OK. I could be remembering wrong, but I thought people made too much of that even back then.

With Mosley, he not only lost his legs on the first shot, but Mosley landed another big shot a few seconds later that had Floyd stumbling around the ring like Kelly Pavlik on a Friday night. I was genuinely surprised he even managed to stay upright. Needless to say, Shane is also a bigger guy, a harder puncher, and a better finisher than Chop Chop (who had Cotto ready to go when they fought, but couldn't pull it off).

i re watched the corley fight last night. it was actually quite an action fight, mayweather jr landed around 300 punches. corley hurt him with a right hook in round 4 and its debatable whether it was as bad as mosley hurt him. mayweather jr was back to beating his ass that same round. that fight doesnt really tell us much about how a pacquiao fight will go down. if mayweather jr fights dumb like that he'll certainly get KOd vs pacquiao.

regardless of who hurt him more, in both cases floyd got his get-back.. with mosley, he came out for the next round like he wanted to punish shane for having the temerity to land on him. it's part of why i never bought the "he's scurred of pac" narrative, floyd has no bitch in him in the ring.

I don't think that's true at all. He's obviously a true fighter, and tough, and doubt he'd quit in a fight - but I do think there's some bitch in him.

IMO his over reliance on elbows and forearms to the throat is on the "bitch"-y side, as is the way he often looks at the ref to say "Come on bro, why aren't you helping me out here? He's landing punches on me in close".

And performances such as Baldomir isn't exactly the stuff of warriors

BTW I agree Corley hurt him more than Mosley. Don't really get why people think he was that hurt by Shane. He was heavily buzzed sure, but imo didn't look close to going down or being stopped etc.

Judah made him touch down, and Corley hurt him more legitimately, where he looked in real danger.

Floyd's Knees Definitely DIPPED a Bit vs. Shane...

It'll Be VERY Interesting to See how Floyd REACTS, if/when Pac Catches him w/Something CLEAN...Will Floyd Look to Immediately SEIZE Control, as he Did w/Corley and Mosley???...If So, that Actually Plays INTO Manny's Hands...

    Here's the Thing,

It's Not as If Haymon WANTS to Do this or GAINS a Thing from It...But Floyd WANTs Haymon to Do It...

Never Before Did Floyd Give a Flying Fuck about Random Drug Testing, UNTIL Pacquiao...Never Before Did he Care Who his Opponent was Promoted By, UNTIL Pacquiao...Never Before Did Floyd Concern Himself w/his Opponents Choice of Sparring Partners, UNTIL Pacquiao...

    Your Boy is SPOOKED, Neil...
