Close fight... Judah jumps out to a big lead but has to hang on when he's discouraged by Maidana still being alive after 6 rounds ...
There's no way Judah stays focused and disciplined for 12 rounds against an iron-willed bruiser like Maidana.
agLOADED Judah would have his moments but if he couldn't handle Bumdomir's pressure he's not going to deal with Maidana's very well.
Jesus H fucking Christ!! It's unbelievable how overrated Maidana has become. Absolutely fucking unbelievable. I guess this is all based on the Floyd fight........ Ironically enough, Judah gave a YOUNG, PRIME Floyd a tougher fight than Maidana gave an OLD, FADED Floyd. The Mayweather of 06 would have beaten 50 shades of grey shit outta Maidana. What else did Maidana do? Beat Broner? Zab in his prime was a HELLUVA lot better than Broner, and anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. Zab was MUCH faster than Broner, hit MUCH MUCH harder, and although Zab was never a defensive wiz, in his youth he was harder to hit than Broner due to having better reflexes and feet. I refuse, refuse, absolutely fucking REFUSE to believe that Devon Alexander was better than a prime Judah. The late 90s, early-to-mid 00s Judah is a betting favorite over scrubby ass Maidana. Is he a SURE bet? Never. But I'd favor Zab. People in this thread are selling Judah a bit short, but more than that they're overrating Maidana by A LOT.
Iron-willed bruiser????? LMFAO! You make bum ass Maidana sound like Rocky Marciano. He's a fuckin SCRUB who was whitewashed by Devon the Fake! How does an "iron-willed bruiser" look totally inept all night long against Alexander?
So everything about Madaina we base off an off night while all of Judah's bad night's should be forgotten?
Maidana has exactly the style to make Zab look bad. A pressure fighter who keeps coming and who can take his power shots without folding.. I would confidently pick Maidana. Like Whiskey said, Judah fell apart against Baldomir. I agree a younger Floyd pounds Maidana into the canvas, but Judah is not a younger Floyd.
The key element in this is not Maidana but Judah. Judah has a history of good starts and awful finishes, usually against people who just wouldn't go away a la Clottey. He beat up Zoo for a round then got iced. His left to Nady's throat was the next significant blow he landed after the 1st round. Technically, physically, he has the wherewithal to beat Maidana into a cocked hat. His punch output would collapse and he would go into a semi-shell at the mere sight of Maidana refusing to go away. This allows Maidana to really damage him. I am not sure even Tszyu threw the sort of clubbing shots that Maidana did. Consider this synopsis from boxrec re. the Clottey fight [h=2]Bout Summary[/h]Judah began the busier fighter, showing quick hands and throwing effective combinations behind a jab. Clottey began steadily closing the distance between himself and his opponent from the third round, landing an increasing number of punches that took their toll on Judah. In round four, Clottey landed an uppercut that caused Judah to lose his balance, and by the end of the round, Judah had blood running down his nose. Judah staged a comeback in the sixth round as he landed a flurry of punches, but in the middle of the seventh round, Clottey landed a right hand that hurt Judah and caused him to back into a corner. In round nine, Judah suffered a cut over his right eye and the fight was stopped after he said he could not see. The referee had ruled the cut was caused by an accidental clash of heads even though replays clearly showed a punch by Clottey did the damage. The fight was then sent to the scorecards. Two judges scored the fight 86–85 and the other judge scored it 87–84, all in favor of Clottey I
I think Maidana would’ve been the perfect guy for Judah to blast out in a few rounds in between losses so he could say he was back, motivated, etc
I think Judah beats the hell out of Maidana at 140 but it's a closer and more competitive fight at 147.
Lol X really lost his shit here. It's not like people are picking Maidana to bash up Sugar Ray Leonard, it's Zab fuckin' Judah . Yes he is much more talented than Chino but he doesn't have this mental midget reputation for no reason, and Maidana essentially has all of the intangibles to make it pay off.
Also, maidana may not be ultra-talented, but he's not some wild swinging easy to time amateur either. He would land often against Judah and win as a result.
I did kinda lose my shit on this one three years ago. But I'd still take Zab if we're talking 140. I think some have forgotten that Judah was a legitimate puncher at 140.
Maidana was a rough, tough, durable, resilient guy but he’s not the iron man that shrugs off punishment people want to pretend he is. He barely made it out of the first round in two of his biggest fights. Zab may have been a 5 round fighter but he has the speed and power to beat the hell out of Maidana for at least 5 rounds.
