Movies is a relatively niche interest on here - check the traffic the forum gets. Itd frankly be better just having movie chat on the TAA forum. Either way nobody's gonna start a new thread every time they watch any old movie, having a thread to dump random thoughts/ratings they have when they do gets the odd bit of discussion going that otherwise wouldnt happen at all

 

Either the thread exists and the forum doesn't or the forum exists and the thread doesn't

 

I think Anthony moving it to an 'old films' thread was pretty sensible actually.

 

Just to be a pain in the arse: I'd maybe add reviews or ratings to the title though? 'The old movie thread: ratings and discussion' or some shiz

 

King of Comedy 9/10. It should maybe even be a ten because nothing about the execution of this could have been better

He's watching the old, 1986 version o' Castaway wi' Ollie Reed... he hasnae got past the first scene where Amanda Donahue get her jars oot.

 

yeah, Cast Away is a good film. Hanks is superb in it.

A scanner darkly - 2.5/10. Didnt like this: over acted, overly verbose script. Philip K Dick's stuff seems kinda grandiloquent to me, thematically....deliver it in a style which feels like a half assed SNL sketch & the whole thing is basically just fucking annoying.

 

I'm going to watch Police Story 2 tonight.

V for vendetta. 2.5/10. Pretty fucking terrible.

 

Fat City- 8/10. boxing movie with Stacy Keach and Jeff Bridges. Would like it: clogg, Hut, Slice N Dice, Haymaker.

 

Serpico - 9/10. Better than i remember, very cromulent.

 

Haven't seen this, but I have it. I'll watch this one.

I had no idea Idris Elba was British until well after I finished watching The Wire.

The worst accent I've heard was in the movie Premium Rush with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Jamie Chung plays a Chinese immigrant. My god it was terrible, I was just cringing at how horrible it was.

That movie is about a bunch of bike messengers and get caught up in this mess with a crooked cop (Michael Shannon).

5.5 out of 10. Maybe I'll round up to a 6 to be generous.

Goes down at least half a point because of Jamie's accent.

 

Matthias Schoenaerts does a pretty good NY accent in Blood Ties imo.

 

Man of Steel. Oh my lord. So bad. I'm gonna give it 2/10 because fishburne and the guy who played zod both deserve a whole point each but as a project this was complete sewage.

 

Intersellar. 5/10. Well made film but not my thing.
