    Three things I reckon

    1. Loss of appetite from the Spanish players.

    2. Decline in skill of the Spanish players.

    3. Improvements and Adaptations made by the other teams.

The margins are fine to begin with, once the above happens.....it goes out the window.

Tiki taka was a pile of shit and was just waiting to be exposed for a long time. Barcelona are now much better to watch now that they've abandoned it and Bayern were torn apart by Real last season when Guardiola tried to implement it.

It's a one-paced system which can easily lead to a goal being conceded due to a lapse in concentration by a defender or midfielder. It's boring, shitloads of meaningless, sideways passes. It's extremely vulnerable to pace, look how much joy a guy like Walcott has had playing against it, and if you're playing tiki taka and go a goal down...then what? It's very hard to up the gears. The whole system falls to shit when that happens.

How about you dissect my points rather than just claiming its hogwash. I've been saying this for yonks. I give credit where it's due. As much as I hate them both, Spain and Barcelona (2008-2012 Spain and 2009-2012 Barca) are probably the best teams I've seen. They were boring though, and I think they were talented enough to win the trophies they did without having to resort to such a shit system. Again, I really enjoy watching Barcelona these days, no sideways passes and they can still dominate good teams whilst playing attacking football. Tiki taka is dead, and I'm fucking over the moon that it is.

I really wasn;t being that serious.

Tiki Taka was successful and made clowns out of a lot of players.

Not a problem, its just when you look at the teams they beat...tho it is worth pointing out that they only beat the Germans 1-0 and 1-0 when they met in 2008 and 2010.

I'm not so sure about #2. Spain still produces a ton of talent although the 1 and 3 are probably correct especially when coming to thin margins.

I think the biggest reason for the Spanish success was not how many excellent players they had, but how many of them played together regularly. The Spanish national team were a lot like Barcelona because they were all so familiar with each other and Del Bosque didn't much alter the system the players were used to. While most other national teams were made up players from at least half a dozen or more teams and had to learn to play as a unit there was no such curve for Spain.

Now that core is aging and the newer generation are more separated they will have to adopt a new approach.

Barca had to change their style as they are no longer good enough to play Tiki Taka, it's that bloody simple. Spain while still producing lots of talent (just look at their under age teams) these guys are a level below the guys who won the WC/Euros
