Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films Watched this highly entertaining documentary about the rise and fall of Cannon Films moguls Menahem Golan & Yoran Globus, the Israeli filmmakers that came to America with dreams of becoming part of the Hollywood elite but never got there because their films, well, sucked massively. The way these two enthusiastic movie fans conceived and made their films was nothing short of the stuff from a Mel Brooks comedy. While you can hardly pinpoint to any Cannon film that was actually memorable, they indeed left a legacy that still to this day is felt: Cannon gave cinema the Ninjas, Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme, Sharon Stone, over-the-top mindless violent action films with gratuitous sex, most of the T & A teen films from the 80's and enough ridiculous garbage popcorn that without them you will not have those Cannon-like franchises like Fast & Furious, The Expendables, Step-Up, American Pie and many others. Watching the story of these guys is like watching porn: you know is filthy, trashy and no good, but you cannot take your eyes away from it. 7.5/10
