Frazier never backs down from a fight but he was a slow starter and would be facing somebody bigger, harder hitting who comes like a sprinter off the blocks. This one ends early and it's violent.

Yeah, Tyson woulda blitzed Frazier within 5. Too much power, too much handspeed, too strong for the smaller, slower, less offensively sophisticated Frazier.

There was a saying about the difference between Tyson and Frazier that I always agreed with. Something like "Tyson could take a big punch, but not a sustained beating. Frazier could take a sustained beating, but not a big punch."

I think that's true. Tyson would be able to handle Frazier's firepower, where the opposite simply isn't true. Frazier's only shot would be to take Tyson into deep waters, but he simply wouldn't be around long enough for that.

In Tyson we're talking about one of the best finishers in boxing history, so once he got Joe hurt he'd keep him hurt.

Tyson KO 3-4 sounds about right.

I always felt that Frazier was closer to the level of Liston, and that Tyson and Foreman were a cut above Frazier and Liston. Just my opinion.

Therefore, I find two intriguing matchups to be Frazier vs Liston, and Tyson vs Foreman.

    Perfectly said.

Frazier could take a beating better than Tyson, but Tyson could undoubtedly take harder punches better than Frazier. Frazier wouldn't last long enough to make it a war down the stretch. As you and whiskey have said..he was a slow starter and Tyson was a fast starter...add the fact that Tyson was bigger, faster and had power in both hands.....Frazier's going down.

If Tyson is unable to get Frazier out of there early, things get real interesting ... It's not easily done... Even with six knockdowns, foreman couldn't keep him on the canvas and Joe was practically made for George

Very true but i think one key is that Joe was at least able to see Foreman's punches coming. That might not be the case against Tyson.

True I just think this was an exceptionally difficult guy to keep down and if Tyson doesn't do it, he's in for a hell of a time

I think Tyson's finishing ability would be too much for Frazier's heart and recuperative powers.

Tyson generated the MOST power from his uppercuts, and with Frazier's style and height Mike has an uppercut field day.

Brutal style match up for Frazier, just as bad as Foreman. Tyson is almost like a bigger, much faster, more powerful version of him, with power in both hands, and excellent accuracy and variety.

    Tyson in 4 probably.

    Terrible style matchup for Frazier.

I agree with everyone else that he has the better chance if it drags on, but I don't think he would make it that far.

Another thing to think about is the punches they were most vulnerable to. Tyson was most vulnerable to uppercuts, straight rights, and jabs while the opponent used good foot movement, but stood their ground as well. I've seen Frazier use some uppercuts here and there but obviously it was not his money punch. Frazier used constant movement, but Foreman showed you could get him with the uppercut, and other guys were able to get that punch on him too. It's the punch you use a lot against attacking swarmers who get low. What HWs in history had better uppercuts than Tyson? If there is a list, it's a very short one.

IMO Liston is up there with Foreman & Tyson

Tyson took an unholy beating from Douglas for 11 rounds and a totally shot Tyson took an even worse beating from Lennox Lewis for 8 rounds. The punches Lewis (whose right hand was at least as hard as any shot Foreman throws) was teeing off with in the last couple rounds were ridiculous. I don't get how you can conclude Tyson can't take a beating.. I don't think Frazier himself takes that type of beating and survives.

I'm with Cdoggy, Irish and anyone else who says....Tyson early...Frazier late. If Frazier survives Tyson initial blitz...and his brain isn't too scramble from all the left hook/uppercuts Tyson will land early...the fight will be a WAR in the later round. I see Tyson doing a lot of clinching to survive late if it goes late.....
