Wlad vs Vitali would do record box office in Germany.

Floyd vs Pacquiao 2 would probably be the second biggest fight in history if it happens next year.

It was huge here. I had five options to watch within a 7 or 8 minute walk from my place.

It's strange that TSN hasn't replayed the fight yet. They usually do after a week.

Did Showtime replay the fight last weekend? On what card? I know HBO showed it before the Canelo fight.

They did. I don't think it was on with a live fight.

Rematch does 2 million easy. Also easy is the selling for the second one plus it's great business. Mayweather says he beat him easy and knew he had him from round one, so this could be another easy nine figures. The thing is, the closer you watch the fight, the better Pacquaio looks, even with a hurt shoulder. Whenever Floyd tried to start to walk him down, he bought EVERY feint.

One commissioner already resigned over Pacquaio's treatment. High drama in a few weeks when Manny testifies in front of Nevada Commission. Floyd won't take the fight out of Nevada...

I'm sure he would love the payday, but come on...comebacks don't end well...

Plus Popo don't bring Floyd another $100 million and more cars...A rematch with Pacquaio is the ONLY fight that makes business sense...

Please elaborate your opinion on people who are builders of banana boats. Love to hear your eloquent remarks on that...

It's interesting how the thing you cite to boost Too Slap's status is the same thing that completely discredits its status.

Agreed. As I said, us boxing fans are a fickle bunch, and if these obscene numbers are correct, there's just no way Floyd won't be up for a rematch.

Are you willing to put money in Floyd's pocket and buy the rematch?

I won't, but plenty others will, and I'll probably watch the fight anyways, thanks to somebody else who can't help but throw a Ben Franklin at a shitty fight.

I'm thinking the rematch won't cost a Franklin. 4 Harriet tubmans at most

Add in your local cable taxes, it will get up to a Franklin pretty easily.

I've read several articles stating the fight grossed just north of $500 million when all revenue was counted. Instead of the normal 50/50 split, DirecTV took $150 million off the top. Which is 30%. That leaves $350 million to split. Unless HBO, Showtime and Al Haymon put on the fight for free...can't see how either guy made the money some have claimed.

That's not to say both fighters didn't make a shit ton of money (they both made out like thieves) but the $250 and $150 million amounts don't seem realistic.

It's always interesting how the conversation and speculation slants toward how much athletes make when the real money is made by those who put on the events. The same holds true for all other sports.

For example there are pundits discussing how Deandre Jordan isn't worth $100 million for five years while the previous owner purchased the Clippers for $11 million and sold the team for $2 BILLION.

Same is true for soccer players and the billionaire owners in that sport. How much are they making to make those contract offers affordable.

so how much do you think they made?

Im not quite sure how they think they have figured out this 4.4 million dollar buy rate. when mayweather jr fought delahoya the buys kept increasing as they trickled in months later.

bars everywhere paid a premium for rights to show the fight, that is tens of millions worth of revenue. they sold 46k closed circuit tickets in las vegas at $150 a pop minimum. international rights, merchandise, rebroadcast rights, ticket gouging on the secondary market.

Direct TV is not the only PPV distributor

I agree with you. I believe they get a cut of the U.S. PPV money. The other streams you've mentioned I highly doubt they see any of that money. Thus my point about the narrative being what the fighters made vs. what's in the pot.

It's no different than the NBA owners crying poor, players agreed to a lower split then the TV contract kicks in and there's $9 billion in the pot players aren't getting a cut of. And yet we still hear about players taking less money etc.

I don't know how much they made. Both made record amounts, but estimating one guy made a quarter billion dollars is foolish. I don't believe a room full of businessmen would allow "the help" to walk away with $250 million himself.

I also agree with you about numbers increasing after the fact but it won't go from 4.4 to 8.4.

It's no different than Hollywood. I suppose actors could view themselves as victims of the greedy producers, but they'd look pretty silly doing so. Plus, there's nothing to stop them from producing their own shit. I suppose they could gripe about the couple of dozen other people involved who make more than them but that'd be pretty silly too. They could also imagine themselves as objectified tools in the whole process too, but that'd be on them and their egotistical notion that they deserve the credit for everything.

The article said something like DirecTV and other PPV distributors would receive $150 million.

if the distributors receive 150 million out of 440 million that leaves the fighters with the majority of the remaining 290mill. just from PPV. despite what muzse said i believe the fighters (mayweather jr and aru.....i mean pacquiao) will also get a bulk of the other revenue streams i mentioned.
