    I believe so. Was Ayala as good as his hype? No. Would he destroy a guy like Kirkland? Yes.

    Ayala fought in a far better era with a far deeper talent pool... Kirkland's opponents don't appear to be any better than Ayala's, to me, they just happen to exist in a time where guys who are ESPN fighters at best in 1985 are now on HBO and PPV

    Ayala was a typical bully, meaning he almost certainly had dog in him. But I think it woulda taken a very talented fighter to bring that dog outta him. Kirkland........ is not that fighter.

    Ayala would've destroyed Kirkland.
