Did the PBF V Pac fight make you think more or less of them afterwards?

I expected a shit, safe fight from both of them and that's what we got. At these stage of their careers, it's obvious it's all about the $$$ and that the hunger is far gone. I thought the fight was super close (but I wasn't really paying attention to this garbage) and all that talk about mastery and greatness was a sad speech from snake oil vendors.

part of boxing is convincing the judges you won the round, since slow motion replays don't mean shit...but I don't even think Floyd is good at that since his output is too low :scratcher:

Floyd damaged his rep by leaving some close fights down to luck...it cost him one of the judges cards against DLH and means he loses a tonne of mythical match ups based on being outworked

All the slow-mo really was to me was a way of seeing who actually landed the most shots as opposed to who appeared to land more. I found it easier to tell when the footage was slower.

They should start broadcasting ppv fights in slow motion for these chaps. Standard definition $89.99. HD $99.99 and slow motion $189.98

there needs to be a 6min break in between rounds so judges can rewatch the round in slow motion

With Lewis, you get the impression he's literally a retard. Maybe that's why his commentary is so forced, clichéd, and just fucking awful.

Slow motion or not, compubox would still compute a Floyd flinch as a punch thrown and landed...Commentators would still scream for Floyd's missed punches, call headlocks and hugging as boxing mastery...

And Vegas would still be Vegas...

 .... could be... maybe the more likely explanation. Seems funny because HBO always painted him as the intellectual chess player..

I think it might have something to do with the accent honestly. For many people in North America a British accent is automatically associated with intellectualism. (or at the very least "cultured") If Lennox sounded like he was Toronto or Dallas I doubt he'd be viewed the same way.

I always figured it was because his rivals (Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe) were certifiable. Lewis looked smart, or at least sane next to those guys.

I do think Lewis is probably a fairly smart guy. Broadcasting isn't for everyone.

Tyson is clearly more intelligent than Lewis.

Lewis literally has the IQ of a fencepost. He has no intelligence at all, broadcasting or not. Every interview I've ever seen/read with him, he seems like an utter dullard.

Sure, but Lewis was portrayed as the thinker because he played chess and Tyson did crazy things. I always felt like Lewis was considered sane more than smart.

Besides, that's probably bullshit. Tyson has more charisma. In real world terms (not getting fleeced for all your money, not going to jail, not prostituting yourself post-career for sympathy/"look at that guy" money) Lewis has clearly lead the more intelligent life.

Lewis has led the more boring life.

There are examples of extremely intelligent people doing stupid and wild things. Not saying Tyson falls into the extremely intelligent category, just that intelligence and lifestyle/sanity don't go hand in hand.

Nah, that's bullshit. If we're both proper great heavyweight champions, but I keep all my money and retire with all my marbles and you lose everything and go to jail, I'm smarter than you.

You're really not, you're just more sensible. I could have an intelliect that obliterates yours. You could be punch drunk and illiterate, but boring/sensible enough to keep all your money, I'd still be far more intelligent than you.

Money and sanity aren't measures of intelligence, they are two completely seperate things.

Judging them objectively as 2 humans, Tyson is clearly more intelligent.

In lieu of their exam results and any novels or studies they've written, it's based on hearing them talk many times, the only thing we really have to go on. Lewis is borderline retarded, Tyson is clearly more intelligent.

In this case, track record clearly out-weighs any perceived intellectual advantage the Bolivian guy has.

Looking at the way they respectively handled their money, I'd say Lewis is much smarter than Tyson. But that's not really saying much. Tyson's interviews are entertaining but behind all that, he's not intelligent in the slightest.

So you're saying that Tyson can probably read the whole Lord of the Rings series and comprehend it fully whereas Lewis would be confused? Is that the kind of intelligence we're talking?

Stone Cold Steve Austin with a high school education could ramble on for days and days during his in-ring wrestling promos whereas a guy like David Otunga with his Harvard Law degree can't string 2 sentences. We can debate about this forever, mex. It's no real measure of intelligence. But I do agree with you that Lewis isn't all that intelligent. But then...nor is Tyson. I don't think Tyson is more intelligent than Lewis. He's just better to listen to cause his life is one big f*ck up

Joe Mesi seems like one seriously intelligent guy based on his interviews.

He once mixed up stigma and stigmatism (an eye condition).
