If that fight takes place in England, Brook would beat him, probably easily, Maidana would not be allowed to fight back.

In the USA, I can see a much much closer proper fight.

Very disappointing over all, I thought it looked a lot lot better on paper but in practice two of the 4 big fights played out badly.

 

Gavin is a bit like Broner. If you aren't interested in being in shape, fighting at your normal weight division, then fuck off and don't waste peoples time. I am not usually hard on fighters but Gavin, for a former World Amateur Champ, to come in and mug himself and the paying public like that, is not good enough at all.

 

Yeah agree totally, I had big hopes for Gavin when he turned pro, such a massive letdown

 

If he came in and walked right into the mouth of the cannon, and made a go of it, I would have said "Fine, fair enough".

Instead he basically could have been DQ'd for not trying.

His entire modus operandi appears to have been "Show up, do a few rounds, get paid, fuck off".

I thought Selby looked impressive. Fancied he would get skelped but he did a job. Good fight. Stick him in with someone really good though and he gets lit up. Had money on Linares and was shitting it through six but thankfully Kev let his shit chin do the job as usual and everyone was happy. Joshua can clearly hit but so could Price - this procession of no-marks does no-one any favours. I agree with Slice: get him in with Chisora and at least give him a few rounds (Chisora is shit but might last four). The main event was pathetic. Gavin is the biggest waste of talent in British boxing history. A fucking disgrace. Smell Brook has fought nothing and is now considered a top five welter. Let him fight anything decent and see what happens.

Supposedly Brook vs Rios is next. Rios will get pounded.

 

Listen, Rios had all manner of problems with John Murray who is Mitchells son. If Brook cannot get Rios out of there in style, he is shit.

 

Feebles......Mitchells face was burst open by a clash of heads, not sure we can blame his chin on this. Damn big effort from him all the same.

 

Rios is such an easy target, that despite his chin I think Brook can get him out if he really presses his foot to the gas.

 

The guy is a scrubby Light-Welter. Brook is at least a fringe world-class Welter. And has a bag of tricks. It should be easy.

 

No it should not be easy at all. Rios has never been stopped, including against Pacman. He takes punches for breakfast and has an incredible chin. Brook couldn't stop Matthew Hatton. Of course he is much better now but still, saying he should easily stop Rios is almost as stupid as saying Khan should easily stop Algieri.

 

I couldn't agree more, ridiculous thing to say. Rios has never even been stopped, let alone easily.

And though admittedly he does seem more solid than pretty much all other Ingle hype jobs, people are getting too excited about Brook, based on him beating scrubs.

Just like Khan dominating Collazo and Alexander, before fighting a solid enough welter and looking average, and arguably losing.

The best guy Brook has fought is Porter, who fights like a drunk chav on steroids, and Brook looked pretty average there.

 

Brook is gonna beat the shit outta Rios.

 

That's not the same as easily knocking him out.
