I know....even though I'm the driver of the Verdejo bandwagon...there is something Jermain Taylorish about him....and I would love it if he got with better TRAINERS.....who could improve his boxing skills.....getting trained by uncles or cousin is NOT good enough...
Verdejo could become either one of two things - either a VERY poor man's Tito best-case, or a rich man's Joel Julio worst-case.
The only thing about Verdejo that I don't like is that he seems to get a little wild in there when going for the finish. Against an experienced counter puncher, that will get him cleaned up. As far as his talent goes, I think he can go far as long as he stays dedicated and maybe gets another trainer who can improve the other parts of his game. But he's not ready for the division's elite yet I don't think.
Verdejo got all the tools. TR are bringing him up the right way. The only flaw that I can see in his game is when he get's a tad too wild. That can leave him to a counter that can spell disaster. The last round when he switched south Pawl he forced the issue and got reckless. Other then that this kid has a very bright future.
