Agreed that Frazier is better than Burt Cooper (Puerto Rock) but it doesn't change the outcome. Duran was better than Pipino Cuevas...both fell to Hearns in 2 rounds. Better doesn't mean you don't suffer the same fate. Stylewise Frazier gets fucked up. Too small. Bowe never gets hit with that left hook. He controls Frazier at range with that jab and nails him with THE Bowe uppercut when he gets inside. Bowe was a 245lbs fighter and 6'5". You guys are MAD if you think this is competitive. The funny thing is, the same guys who think this is competitive are the same ones that say Frazier beats Marciano...due to a 15-20lb difference in size...even though Marciano was about the same height. Inconsistent.

As for Ali being my 2nd favourite fighter (which implies that cdogg thinks Floyd is my favourite) let me set te record straight:

Sly's favourite fighters all time list:

    1. Ali
    2. Tyson
    3. Jones
    4. Mayweather

Now...to the other matter....why do I denigrate two guys that beat Ali, my favourite fighter?

Frazier beat a rusty Ali; just his third fight after a 3.5 year layoff. Ali wasn't the same guy that he was pre-exile. Even then Ali landed more punches and inflicted more bodily damage (frazier was in the hospital much longer). I maintain Frazier was a great fighter, but don't overrate the guy because he beat Ali. Consider the context.

Norton? He had the style to trouble Ali, plain and simple. Same style troubled Holmes as well (Holmes had a similar style to Ali).

I've never put down the following Ali opponents though: Liston, Foreman, Patterson.

Bowe NEVER in his career met a left hook that he could avoid. That alone means he's no safe bet over Frazier.

The guy he has the best chance against, George Foreman, is also the one who could deliver the most spectacular KO victory

I don't think Bowe had a bigger frame than Foreman, its misleading to call him a '245lb fighter' imo - look at the muscle tone of a 229lb Foreman vs Young vs a 235lb Bowe vs Holy. Prime George wasn't smaller he just trained harder (Lewis was bigger than both). Bowe habitually let small guys lead and get inside on him, he didn't have anything like the will & natural aggression to impose his size advantage on smaller guys George had. Frazier would get inside all night and probably do at least as well there as Holy did.

Frame aside, Foreman just had a freakish natural strength that Bowe didn't have.

By cuts you mean? Because Vitali obviously had a superb chin so it's going out on a limb to say Bowe stops him.

His best shot is against Foreman. I wouldn't totally discount him vs Lewis, but I wouldn't pick him to win either.

Lennox just has bitch in him outside the ring, he was the same way with Rahman and Tyson.

I'm a lifetime Lewis hater, but this is bullshit. Lewis was calm as all Hell. If anything, it was BOWE who was a bit bothered. I guess he expected Lewis to shit his pants when he got on his face, but Lewis had no fear in his eyes whatsoever.

Now, I do think it gets overstated that Bowe was SCARED of Lewis. I don't think he was scared of Lewis per say. But do I believe that Lewis was the more confident of victory out of the two of them? Yes, I believe that.

I think Lewis was certain of himself that he could beat Bowe. Bowe, I think had to convince himself that he could beat Lewis.

That's just my objective opinion. As I said, hated Lewis and liked Bowe.

I suggest you and Neil both rewatch that confrontation. Lewis was the more calm of the two. Bowe was popping off at the mouth, but USUALLY in a face-to-face like that the cat popping more shit is actually the more nervous of the two.

Bowe had a bully mentality. There's no disputing that (probably why he wanted no parts of Tyson, as Mike was better at being a bully). He got in Lewis' face probably expecting Lewis to say "I don't want any problems", but Lewis just stood there with a confident grin on his face and said "I'm gonna knock you out", and Bowe got all huffy, a sign that he was a bit taken back that Lewis didn't back down from him.

Lewis plain and simple was NOT scared of Bowe.

For the record, Bowe ducked Lewis at the wrong time, because I think he woulda beaten him had they fought in 93.

Lennox was a little ungainly at the time, it certainly would've been bowe's best chance... Lennox never lacked for confidence and ego, however... I'm sure he was fully confident that he'd win, whether or not he looked impressive trash talking

Yeah, I don't see any proof on that video that Lewis was afraid. The same with Rahman: I didn't see Lewis being afraid, he was simply a shitty trash-talker (mainly since he was plain stupid)

According to esk59, Tyson beat Lewis up in their press conference brawl. Never saw the proof of that either...

Lewis' face lit up when Bowe said he was going to fight him. He wasn't afraid of the guy.

Nothing in the face off suggested Lewis was scared. Lewis had an intimidating amount of self-confidence
