How is it NOT a mismatch? Moorer doesn't have the chin to take Bowe's power, and doesn't have the power himself to deter Bowe. Bowe would destroy him very quickly.
The moment Moorer-Tua was announced I told anyone who would listen..."Tua KO 1". I would have been shocked if it even went to the 2nd round. In this one..."Bowe KO 1". As Xplosive said......utter mismatch.
Not a mismatch at all Its funny that people only remember the best of certain fighters while remembering the worst of others when making predictions......Everyone here is picturing Bowe during his best moments against the Moorer who got laid about by Foreman, Holyfield, and then David Tua during his slow demise How about we match up the Moorer who was hungry and the freshly minted WBO Heavyweight champ ready to fight Holyfield vs the Bowe who was ready himself to fight Holyfield.......i might be in the minority but I think it would have been a great fight..I think Bowe would score a flash knockdown early on Moorer who would still be trying to acclimate himself to heavyweight punching power.....but then I think he would become more cautious and proceed to give Bowe a boxing lesson and rarely engaging on the inside...i see this fight going into the late rounds with Moorer winning the fight but fading due to the constant pressure Bowe is putting on him...I think Bowe stops Moorer late in the fight by TKO in round 11 while trailing on the scorecards
Moorer had no chin at Heavyweight. If Bert Cooper wasn't chinny himself he would have beaten Moorer early. Only reason Foreman took 10 rounds to KO Moorer was because he was too old fat and slow to catch him earlier than that. Bowe would catch him like that in the first round.
So why didn't Holyfield catch him? I agree Bowe wins this at some point but at his best Moorer makes it competitive early
Firstly, Holyfield was sick or injured in that first fight and STILL he caught him in the 2nd round of that fight. Secondly, Evander bounced him up and down like a basketball in the rematch, you must have forgotten. Thirdly, Holyfield was not a big puncher....Bowe most certainly was.
Bullshit Holyfield wasn't a 1 punch knock out specialist but he could punch He put Bowe down and almost out with 1 shot...he put Ray Mercer who during his good years was almost impossible to wobble let alone put down....should i go on? Moorer lost to Foreman because he got set up...Teddy was telling him and Moorer refused to listen (part of his downward spiral) Foreman stunned him with a right and then hit him hard as "fuck" with all his weight at the end of his shot...Moorers mouth was busted open on that shot.....Foreman at an old age could hurt anyone if he caught you flat footed...he caught Moorer flat footed the rematch with Holy was predictable...Moorer was clearly not the same fighter coming up in the ranks...dude was even made fun of during the weigh in for his big belly....LOL
Herbie Hide made Mike Moorer look like George Chuvalo and even he went some rounds with Bowe before somehow being knocked out without appearing to get hit Moorer could box, was quick and a southpaw... He definitely goes some rounds before he can't take the bigger guy's punch any more
Bullshit back at ya Holyfield was an average puncher. Bert Cooper had very little punch resistance and Evander hit him with every punch in the book for 7 rounds and never dropped him. Ancient Holmes took his punches for 12 rounds. Every now and then Evander would catch someone clean and hurt them but when you look at his entire body of work he was a decent puncher but average. No one in their right mind would label him as a "puncher". Moorer lost to Foreman because he was an incompetent fuck with no chin. Simple. No Heavyweight champion had any business losing to slow fat 45 year old Foreman. As for the rematch with Holyfield...Evander was fit and that is why Moorer got bounced up and down. Simple. Had nothing to do with what Moorer showed up. Moorer at his heavyweight best was a chinny cunt, who should have stayed at 175lbs.
Whatever. Bowe would go through him like a hot knife through butter. Moorer was a fat Lightheavyweight and nothing more.
Yes he was ... What is the line of demarcation for "GOOD", exactly? who's GOOD? Mike Tyson? It's ridiculous. The guy beat Evander Holyfield fair and square ... He was at the very least GOOD
