These Tito fans are making themselves look silly in this thread, it's embarrassing.

Tito/Winky was pretty much the middleweight version of Ali/Berbick or Tyson/McBride

I just can't get over the fact that Tito put on 10 pounds after the weigh in, I mean, 10 pounds!

I guess it begs the question, could any middleweight beat Wright after putting on 10 pounds? Especially one like Tito, who relies on speed and mobility.

It's ridiculous. I actually really liked Tito, he always came to fight, he was in a lot of very good/great fights, and his left hook was beautiful. However his limitations were obvious to anybody who's actually willing to see them.

As Slice once put it, if you watch that fight subjectively you must see Tito is not himself

I cant believe some "boxing" fans are going to tell me the guy that Vargas beat can beat any version of Trinidad.

first of all, he clearly beat vargas. second, he was clearly juiced heavily when he fought trinidad at 160

That fight was really close. I actually had it a draw. But that really isnt my point.

Based on what? He didn't look shot against Wright. He looked like the same fighter he'd always been - a plodding, patient stalker with no plan B. I could see an argument if he was even remotely competitive, but he got flat out EMBARRASSED. Hegman would've probably done better against Wright that night.

in other news, Hamed-Barrera was the equivalent of Louis-Marciano. Hamed from 1997 knocks him out, and I'm being TOTALLY OBJECTIVE ABOUT THIS

his tentativeness is what was unlike him. Never seen him like that in any fight.

Ex-fucking-actly. This thread is insane, Tito nuthugging at its finest. Feels like it's pre Hopkins time.

Trinidad was always an economical puncher who waited for openings. A stalker. Wright was uniquely suited to fight guys like that, his arms are so damn long that he was able to cover his body and head at the same time. Trinidad wasn't smart enough to do anything but what he always did.. saw the same thing in his fight with Hopkins, he pretty much just followed Hopkins around the ring getting battered & changing nothing.

Precisely. Tito was ALWAYS a patient stalker who waited for openings, that's simply what he was. He was too stupid and basic to actually create openings, feint, set traps, try something different, etc etc. Obviously, his offense was beastly if you just stood in front of him and let him tee off on you, but the point is he was always pretty lost if you didn't.

So naturally, a guy like Wright who was highly disciplined, with ultra tight clamshell defense was going to shut him down, by way of giving him no openings, and Tito being unable to create them.

Tito would have always been shut out by Winky, it's hard to believe anyone really believes otherwise, maybe they're trolling.

against mayorga it looked to me like trinidads legs were stiff and he wasnt the same fighter as pre-retirement. Nonetheless i think wright would have always beat him. i was always in the minority when making that prediction in the early 2000s

We'd actually seen quite a lot of Wright in the UK at the time as he came over here and beat up Adrian Dodson, Ensley Bingham and Steve Foster, due to the fact he couldn't get a big fight in the States at the time. I knew he'd pose a lot of problems for the 'big names', though I didn't foresee him being quite as useful as he ended up being.

Saw Trinidad/Wright live on tv and never watched it again. Zero replay value. Not because Wright was amazing but because Trinidad was piss poor who didn't make any effort. Crap fight.

Tito fans- "Tito may have unofficially lost vs DLH because he was killing himself to make 147, that's also why no rematch at 147, Tito was going to die from anorexia"

"Tito lost to Wright because he was fat, he was morbidly obese in that fight, he looked like Fat Joe"

Tito wanted to rematch DLH. but at 154. DLH said not, it's too much weight for him. So Tito said fine and did hit business at 154 and moved to 160. When Tito moved to 160, DLH moved up to 154. DLH was now ready for a rematch, but Tito already moved up, so purposed the fight at 160. DLH declined, as the weight was too much. Once Tito retired, DLH went to 160.

DLH been ducking tito since the longest. They didnt call him chicken for nothing.

Yeah, he ducked the guy he made look like shit the first time they fought, to take on easier assignments like Bernard Hopkins (the guy who knocked out the guy he was ducking)

    FFS Trinidad fans are retarded
