Robbie is rightfully ranked in the top 10 P4P, a true elite fighter :bears: http://www.ufc.com/rankings
Lawler should not be rated in the top 10 p4p. He's not elite. He's a tough guy on a good run. I didn't think he won against Hendricks so that's part of it.
That's if you think he won against Hendricks. Many people didnt. He wasnt a domination, he won by split decision. His win against Rory was great. What does that have to do with being an Elite fighter?
My impression is you rarely do, therefore my exaggerated comment towards mex. Significantly less than some other posters. Of course you're not the only guy who does that. I can't read every one of your posts so my impression might rely on a non representative selection of them.
I think one should have conviction in their opinions before expressing it to others. Why state something you are unsure of and can easily be swayed?
I respect that view. I try to be as open as possible when I stick my nose in something that interests me but I don't have the best knowledge of. I think a strong conviction in your opinions will make you a little less open for change which could mean improvement.
Rory only loses to elite fighters, even you suggested that in this thread. He's beaten everyone else impressively, only losing to another elite fighter in Condit.
Agreed. There's a difference between having conviction, and just being pointlessly, doggedly stubborn and obstinate for the sake it, when you're blatantly wrong.
Cant be blatantly wrong on something that really cant be proven and the only consensus is other opinions. That is where you get tripped up. There is no facts here man. This just a bunch of guys bullshitting and shooting the breeze, as is most of Fightbeat. I could understand if this was a math problem and the actual answer was based on fact.
Royness this is a good example. He knows I make perfect sense, he can't refute it, and knows he's wrong, but still has to try and have the last word and not bend his ping at all :: http://fightbeat.com/forums/showthr...!!-Mendes-in&p=1526410&viewfull=1#post1526410
Nah, it's a fact at this point Robbie is an elite fighter. He is the WW champion of the world, with an impressive TKO defense of the title over a very good fighter, and the media consensus is he's top 10 P4P. Those are facts. That's called being a proven elite fighter, simple as that. It doesn't get any clearer.
id like to hear one of you guys tell me how robbie would beat diaz of even today? hes not gonna run, hes not gonna take diaz down and stall, hes not gonna out cardio him, hes gonna stand and trade with a guy who is both a better boxer and has a better chin. diaz would ko robbie again im 100% sure of it. the fight will never happen though.
Maybe Anthony means, his actual fighting abilities besides his power doesn't seem as elite to him as his ranking and little run over the last years suggest. :dunno:
Im sorry it pisses people off. It's not my goal. Im just passionate about my beliefs and it's going to take a lot more than "he beat a good fighter so he is elite" to change my mind.
That's exactly what I mean. His skills are not elite. Clearly he is the champ so he is at the top, but rank him among great champions in the sport, and he wont break the top 15. And i think he loses within his next two fights.
I claimed he was good at everything, which makes him elite. Only a retard would interpret it the way you did. "Bradley is only "good" in all areas so he can't be elite, z". You're talking about an older post anyway, I'm talking about the post you quoted "eh" to - you know that made perfect sense, that's why you couldn't even refute it.
That's exactly what he means, but the viewpoint is absurd. 2 examples in boxing, Frock and to a lesser extent, Bradley. They do not really excel in any area, and Frock looks downright scrubby, yet they're proven elite fighters - the results speak for themselves.
Anyone who trades with Diaz wont last. You have to take diaz down and GNP him out. Or you can fight really smart like Condit, but diaz can get in your head and usually that plan doesnt work.
Maybe an elite fighter in the current welterweight division or UFC. But not an elite champion among the greatest in the sport? :dunno:
