Yeah I trained in Karate for a bit, then TKD for years. Didn't like it much tbh, prefer boxing by a country mile.

I do wanna see if I'm any good at wrestling though, so I'm going to an MMA gym soon.

Even on a pro level, I would say my raw speed and power is elite. Timing, accuracy, ring IQ, stamina, and overall skill? Not so much.

Obviously it takes a lot more than just speed and power to be an elite fighter though, a lot more. You have to not only be very well rounded, but extremely hard working and disciplined too.

Nick is my favorite fighter. I think he can beat Robbie again, but I'm not 100% sure of it. I'm 100% sure it would be a great fight. Neither guy is going to run or lay and pray. Neither guy will back down.

Too bad Nick lost a close fight with Anderson and tested positive for weed again. They might have made Diaz / Lawler 2 if Nick had won and hadn't gotten suspended afterwards.

 

Lawler's "Elite" in the Sense he's the REIGNING Champion & a Consensus Top 10'er even Prior to that...

But Even w/his Recent Wins & the Title He's Acquired and Defended, REED Would Be HESITANT to Characterize Lawler as THE Best of the Best Within his Division (Another Way to Define “Elite”)…Often in Combative Sports, the Champion ISN’T the Best Guy in that Division…Worthy of RESPECT, but Still Not Regarded as the Best…

Depending on the definition of the rest you can come up with different levels of elite. See your elite judo skills or Mayweather as having elite boxing skills.

 

I did not partake in that elite argument from the VERY beginning and I don't think I said I base it purely on other champions.
