Woody in Indecent Proposal a top 10 ALL TIME PERFORMANCE? That's a weird mention.

Anyway, Hopkins in SOTLM basically has to be mentioned.

The rest of your list I can accept.

I'm not sure if it's top 10 all time, but I do know the following might be the most UNDERRATED performance of all time, and IMO should have won a Best Actor Oscar:

Kevin Bacon in Murder in The First

Spacey is the first ever established, big time Hollywood actor to give stellar movie performances, then turn around and do his BEST work on a show. HOC is Spacey's best performance.

Woody Harrelson was excellent in that film. Unexpected mention I admit, but he's what made that film entertaining.

Isn't it also strange that two of the top 10 all time performances would've been in Crimson Tide?

Have you seen Crimson Tide? For that film not to have been even nominated...is the worst Oscar snob in history. Hackman and Denzel were spectacular.

Saw it a long time ago. Liked it but wasn't blown away. Maybe I was too young. Liked Hunt for Red October as well. Will definitely have to check out Crimson Tide again.

I dunno about being top 10 all time, but Dicaprio in The Aviator at least deserves a honorable mention. It's a top 20 all time performance, IMO.

Not the topic but I wanted to say that heath Ledger's performance as the Joker is a tad overrated. He's given special credit because he died soon after but while it was better than Jack Nicholson's Joker...it was still somewhat overacted IMO.

Aaron Eckart's performance as Harvey Dent/Two face was better IMO.

Clearly robbed of best actor last year, simply because MM played an AIDS patient in Dallas Buyers Club.

I'll be damned, for ONCE you and I can agree.

I've always failed to see what exactly makes Ledger's Joker better than Jack's.

Nicholson's Joker was considered an iconic villain until Dark Knight came out, and Ledger died, THEN people started talking about how brilliant Ledger's Joker was and how shitty Jack's was.

    That's not the case.

Not to say it wasn't a very good performance, it was. But I think it's only considered a legendary one because it was his last performance before his death.

And yes, Eckhart was arguably better in The Dark Knight than Ledger was.

word. It's impossible to beat guys that play queers, brain damaged and/or aids patients. The Liberal academy wants to highlight those issues every time.

Funny enough....you and I agree on most things, it just doesn't seem like it. lol

In real life we'd be good friends. No joke.

We just disagree on the invincibility of 80s fighters.

Dude 'Crimson Tide' was a good film, but hardly Oscar's material. In a year (1995) that saw the releases of 'Braveheart', 'Apollo 13', 'SEVEN', '12 Monkeys', 'The Usual Suspects', 'Casino', 'Leaving Las Vegas', 'Sense and Sensibility', 'Heat', 'Rob Roy' just name a few, it would have been a stretch to nominated that film. The actors? yeah, they should have been nominated.

A matter of taste I guess. IMO only Braveheart rivals it for best film that year.

SEVEN, CASINO, The Usual Suspects, Apollo 13 and Sense & Sensibility are still remembered today while 'Crimson Tide' needs to be rediscovered.

I'm with Sly on this one.

Crimson Tide was a top 5 movie of 95.

For example, Crimson Tide is a better movie than Usual Suspects. Usual Suspects is a movie that would have otherwise been forgettable if not for Spacey's brilliant performance. And even WITH Spacey's performance, it's still an overrated movie. One of the all time great endings, sure, but the rest of the movie is meh.

    Best movies of 95, IMO:

    1. Casino
    2. Seven
    3. Heat
    4. Crimson Tide
    5. Leaving Las Vegas

Yes, I'd take all 5 of them over Braveheart.

    GREAT year for movies though.

92-95 is arguably the best 3-4 year run of all time great movies in history.
