In order to make it a real match, you'd have to have "Junior Welter" Cotto against Welter Palomino

In that case, Palomino wears him down and stops him

I think Cotto, at 147, for example the guy who beat Mosley, beats Palomino by decision

That guy weighed 160 pounds, which would certainly help

Cotto? He was legitimately a welterweight. He's smaller than a Trinidad or odh, for example. If someone proposed Trinidad vs. Palomino, would you answer it by proposing some alternative matchup? Wtf.

Cotto never weighed anywhere near 147 pounds in the ring as a "welterweight" ... Palomino did because he had a same day weigh-in

if if you can't comprehend the difference, then the "wtf" is on you

I think allot of these in-ring weights are a case of 'well i can pile this much on so i might as well' rather than a reflection of real size. Cotto would have made welterweight with few difficulties back in the day imo with a few amendments to training/diet etc

Well we pit current fighters against ones from the 70's all the time without making special allowances for varying weigh in practices. I guess it could matter, but you seem to apply this exception selectively.

How do we match trinidad at 147, for example, with anyone from the 70's? He never fought at 140. What's the adjustment there? Does it depend whether the guy from the 70's is a favorite of yours? Like palomino was?
