Name the best blends of great handspeed/fight ending power in history. I think the top 6 is: Tyson Robinson Jones Hearns Foster Pacquiao All 6 of these guys had the rare combination of blinding handspeed, plus the ability to end a fight at any given time with one punch. Honorable mention shout out goes to Naz.
Good list given the criteria. They wouldn't replace any of the names on that list but Leonard, Mosley and Norris would be the next tier or candidates to be included in a top 10.
Mike Tyson- Probably the best example Roy Jones Ray Leonard Tommy Hearns Bob Foster Manny Pacquiao Oscar De La Hoya- Lightweight days, at least. Obviously he lost power as he went up in weight. Manny Pacquiao Zab Judah- Unfortunately, I think this was all Zab really had. His talent got him far, but alone it was not able to beat the real elite guys. Terry Norris Naseem Hamed- Overrated as he was, he not only KO power in each hand, but his one shot speed was impressive.
I'll add Yuriorkis Gamboa as well. But he too is another guy who relies exclusively on his natural talent. His power is pretty impressive for a small guy, and he can definitely wack.
Good Shout on DeLa... Like him or Not, Dude's Left Hook was Thrown Rapidly AND Possessed Single Shot, Fight ENDING Power... REED:hammert:
DLH is a good shout indeed. And speaking of homos, Curry had a very nice blend of fast hands and fight ending power.
I feel almost embarrassed for not mentioning lightweight Duran here. Duran at lightweight was a big puncher, and had VERY VERY fast hands.
I suppose we gotta mention Ray Robinson. Not as powerful as Hearns surely, but he did punch fast with obvious power, even as he moved up in weight.
Since you mentioned Rosario in MM, I think he's also gotta be added. Rosario had very fast hands to go with his devastating power. Truly devastating power. When Rosario hit guys, the impact sounded like a middleweight landing on a lightweight. Freakish power for a lightweight.
A lot of people aren't that familiar with Chapo. He did indeed have fast hands and his power was SCARY. He was a talented guy. Too bad he couldn't stay off the drugs.
Two other guys who deserve mention - Tito and Corrales. Both of them had very quick hands, despite the fact that they had slow feet. And obviously, they both had murderous two-fisted power.
Tito and Chico both for that mold of deceptively quick. Neither guy had blazing hand speed, but they usually caught their opponents off guard. Vargas in particular appeared SHOCKED at Trinidad's hand speed because going into the fight, a lot of people gave Vargas the edge in hand speed. And yes, I think people assume that if your slow on your feet, your slow with your hands but that isn't the case. For a big man, Lennox had deceptively fast hands. Faster than one would think considering his size and occasional clumsiness.
Good call on Lewis actually, I watched a few of his fights recently for the first time in a while and his hands were indeed very fast for a guy of that size.
