As guys like Provodnikov, and Jermain Taylor prove, being a finisher is a talent and not all guys have it (Provo and Taylor don't have it). List the top guys in history who if they got you in trouble, knew how to put you away quickly.

    Some top finishers:

    Leonard
    Tyson
    Ali
    Lewis
    Louis
    Marciano
    Foreman
    Pryor
    Tszyu
    Mosley
    Saad Muhammed
    Hagler
    Cuevas
    Corrales

Any of those above guys had you in serious trouble, and 9 times outta 10 you were a goner.

    Who else?

    Trinidad.

A few guys fought on but if he had you hurt it was usually a matter of time.

If I had to single out 3 of those guys, I'd say Leonard, Tyson, and Louis are the top 3 all time finishers.

Once Ray, Mike, and Joe got guys in trouble, 98% of the time the fight was as good as over.

I think Jones at 160, 168 was pretty good, too. It's of course not a very good opponent. But the final sequence against Paz looks like magic. It's like a computer calculated the 3,4 perfect finishing shots in a situation like this and Jones just landed with every one of them.

I dunno about Pacquiao. Maybe at the lower weights but I always thought there were a few fights where he let guys off the hook.

Yeah he's borderline. Kind of in the Roy Jones category. Killer instinct at times and passive in others. Both "mellowed" as they aged, but both also let opponents off the hook they clearly could having stopped.

For me you can't be in a list of "best finishers of all time" because you exhibited the ability to do it on occasion.

All jokes aside, Tua actually does belong on this list.

Pre-food addiction, he was an excellent finisher.

Agreed. Pac isn't an all time great finisher. Not saying he was a BAD one, but there's been many guys in history better at it.

And having said that, I forgot to mention Sal Sanchez. Sanchez was a superb finisher once he got a guy in trouble.

I was just about to say that. David Tua has to be up there on the list of all time great finishers who never won a world title.

Yup. Prime Tua would go crazy on a hurt opponent. Both hands combos all that. Fat Tua would just swing his fat lazy left hook at you.
