Margarito stopped Cotto, "Six Heads" and Martinez among others. Typically, although margarito was a limited brawler, he could walk through his opponent's firepower and keep coming with the pressure. Hearns had serious firepower, to say the least, but he was vulnerable to punches and steel-chinned pressure over a long fight. So does Margarito weather the storm and come back to stop Hearns late? Of course not! Hearns cuts him to shreds and uses his face for target practice leading the ref to stop the slaughter in 6 rounds. (Hope I didn't raise your blood pressure too much Xplosive...)!
It wouldn't be a ref stoppage. Marg would be out cold. Against Leonard or Duran, it's a ref stoppage. But Tommy leaves his cheating ass unconscious.
Hearns by KO 3-4?....yeah yeah...Margarito chin was pretty good....maybe even great..but when you get HIT CLEAN by Thomas Hearns...you can't last long...unless you have the skills to take a back step regroup and attack...Margarito is come forward face first brawler...
Margarito would get overpowered. Hearns would back him up all night with the one-two and his left hook to the body was an underrated weapon in his arsenal. I don't think Tony has the power even with his illegal wraps to put Hearns out. Maybe give him some rough uncomfortable moments but perhaps not even that. Hearns ends this in no more than 5 rounds.
Hearns defies gravity, levitates across the ring and knocks Margarito out with a right hand to the top of the cranium.
