    Yup

Its all a long story arc. We saw glimpses of this plot in the first Avengers film when Steve Rogers & Tony Stark were at the brink of fighting. Those of us that knew the Civil War graphic novel jumped on our seats with a resounding 'YES!!!" as we were being teased at this future confrontation.
'Batman v Superman' or 'Justice League 0.1' is first and foremost a project trying to cash in on the Avengers enormous success.

I'm well aware. I was joking about that part.

I wasn't joking about it not looking interesting to me.

'the fuck you talking about? It's the other way around. Batman vs Superman is DC's answer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe phases of films. Where have you been for the last 10 years?

I really hope. I haven't been impressed by Snyder's work since 300. And we all know he took the script straight out of the comic, like Watchmen.

WATCHMEN is a great movie. The best comics-to-film adaptation ever. In fact the only part Snyder changed was the ending explanation about the mass massacre. The comicbook version explanation was plain dumb. The one from the film was more credible and made more sense. Still that little detail was enough to piss author Alan Moore who requested to have his name removed from the credits and to this date has refused to watch the film and has been trashing it ever since. Talk about an ego trip!

I'm not dissing his work in Watchmen, just saying he had the blueprint in both Watchmen and 300 to deliver a good film. Superman fell short in the storytelling department and that's his weakness. It's why I'm carefully excited about Batman/Superman film.

If anything, I'm sure he is following Frank Miller's 'The Dark Knight Returns' blueprint very closely.

I actually thought Man of Steel was terrible. I mean how many ways can we see Kryptonians destroying buildings? Everything about that film was bad. the Original two Superman films (I mean Christopher Reeve versions) were far better...even with the nonsense that those had in them.

Superman is one franchise where casting is FUNDAMENTALLY important. You can get away with mis-casting batman or Spiderman.....but Superman has to look like...well... this:

Henry Cavill, just wasn't Superman for me.

This guy looks more like Superman:

IMO he looks more like Bruce Wayne. But yeah, Cavill is not Superman enough for me. Lacks manliness.

Agreed with the above. I think Don Draper woulda made for a better Batman than Superman.

I always thought they shoulda casted Katt Williams as Superman. Was never sure why he didnt get the part.

    I agree.
A movie with so much potential and visually it was great....but when you watch it again, it just falls apart.

Henry Cavill's got a great body though.

there are worse movies but it was disappointing and could have been much better. Story was weak and too much time was spent on silly fighting scenes.

Heaven alone knows why. The Krypton destruction...Jor'el and Zod enmity stuff was BUTCHERED from a story telling perpective. Obviously much better effects than the orginals...with Krypton looking like a cool place and all...but the whole thing was shit in terms of Ka'lel being the only born baby and carrying all of the kryptonian best traits in him etc. What a load of hogwash. Zod was also VERY sympathetic in this one...and not teh out and out villain he was in the originals and what he should have been. he was rightly annoyed with teh council as they were responsible for the destruction of the planet...and the impending doom of everyone. Planet was just collapsing because of "man-made" industry or whatever......having a red sun swallow a planet was a much better story. The whole ting was messed up and it just looked to me like the directors and screenwriters took artistic license too far and were trying so hard to be clever that the story lost its soul.

Why would ZOD be cursed to the Phantom Zone when they already knew the planet was dying? They were saving him in effect....at the very least giving him a chance of survival. Silly.

They tried so hard to go against convention that you never even felt satisfied seeing Ka'lel fight against the Kryptonians...because he WASN'T Superman. You didn't connect with him as Superman...he wasn't foiling crime and shit and saving people in his blue suit....he was just an Alien with advanced powers and worked on oil rigs and shit.

And the battle scenes at the end were just repetitive and drawn out...just excuse of special effects and destruction over and over and over again.

One thing I did like though was hearing how difficult it was for Kal'el to adjust to Earth's atmosphere as well as his abilities. That was good...but that was the only positive.

    agREED

Zod was not only the most sympathetic character in the film, he was also damned right in his actions. Why was he considered evil? He just wanted to keep his lifelong promise to protect the future of his people, his civilization. That it will cost the lives of inferior savages and the traitor that protected them? so what! It was either he and his people or the disposable Terrans!

i loved the fact he wasn't superman yet. To me that is more realistic way to approach an origins story. All the greatest evils begin with good intentions. That doesn't mean shit to me if zod was right. Where he was wrong was trying to kill all human life and make a new krypton.

Ps. Fuck comic book nerds and their stupid nostalgia. We control these characters now and will do with them as we please. And by we I mean the guys who were
getting blowjobs from girls in their rooms, while you nerds huddled in your tree houses reading comics and cumming off the next issue.

I did first time - and I usually use that as a benchmark.
But I can see after a few more viewings why people would not like it.

    word.

I mean he lacks telekinesis, mind control and a few other things...but he doesn't need them when he's that fast, that strong, invulnerable and can fly. Ridiculously overpowered.

When he was first conceived he wasn't as powerful as he eventually became. He couldn't fly, but do tall jumps ala Hulk, he was stronger than all men but had a limit to how much weight he could lift; was bullet proof, but could be hurt; had X-ray vision, but not heat rays. As the years went by, writers kept adding more & more powers which at the end made him god-like, which is stupid. He is now like a benign Galactus or Beyonder.

This is true. It's hard to get hooked on the character unless you're a kid.
