Last night / prime Fury, obviously vs early 70s Ali.

Fury compared himself to Ali a few times in conferences / interviws and we can see why: a man who never unwavered from his self-belief and confidence....a man who wasn't afraid to go into the wolf's den and totally take apart a foe that everyone (except me) expected him to be crushed by.
Fury's tactics, skills and gameplan before and during the fight were spot-on and I expect they would be in this matchup.

    Fury SD Ali

Ali doesn't have the pop or reach to trouble Fury. He has better athleticism, chin and ring-generalship.
Fury, however, has a 7" reach advantage, 5" height advantage, 30lb weight advantage and can switch-hit.

    Fury '15 SD Ali '73

Well with that logic, forget Fury...this guy would have destroyed Ali:

You seem to forget that Fury was dropped hard by a former Cruiserweight.

The difference in class between the two is so vast that Fury's size advantage is irrelevant.

Yeah, as usual with most FB'ers that hang onto this so desperately, I wondered when you'd bring that up.
    So what?

The fact is though, if Ali were as good as he was in his highlight moments, then he shouldn't have dropped rounds to Chuvalo or Mildenberger. In fact, neither should have landed a glove on him. And that was the prime Ali, not the 70s one.

Ali is the greatest heavyweight ever but he did lose rounds and he did get hit against medicore opponents. Cleveland Williams fight happened only once

So what? It shows that size doesn't matter with this chinny motherfucker. That's what.

No, just that the fight isn't as ludicrous as it seems when you compare their looks.

So far, I pick Ali about 9-3 but let's see what Fury does in his career after this. Three years ago he wouldn't have beaten Wlad 8-4 either, not even this version

    Okay, so maybe he wouldn't.

But my earlier points are valid. And if you automatically feel the opposite because of what Ali has done in the past makes him a 'Black Superman' (like Sly), then it's the Rose-Tinted-Specs scenario again...

Al "Blue" Lewis took Ali to 11th round and kept it somewhat close, but anybody today is vastly inferior to him?

Ken Norton beat Ali, maybe twice or thrice, but nobody now would even win rounds of him?

    And so on.

Yes I know Fury and Wlad only get by because of their size, much like Ali and Patterson got by with their own talents. But once again we see that being naturally quick is acceptable, being naturally large is not

The question at hand which is Fury vs early 70's Ali... I don't even think this deserves an answer but Ali wins easily.

Early 70's Ali was still extremely fast despite having lost a lot of his 60s speed. Fury could BARELY land clean on Wlad, how in the Hell is gonna find Ali???

Now, Fury is a huge guy and seems durable, so it's unlikely Ali stops him unless he badly cuts him. However, Ali wins every round. It'd probably be a horrible fight, controlled by Ali's jab.

Ali's jab is stiffer but slower...soner or later, Fury's clinching, power and strength would take it's toll on the Little Ali (-30lb) and he'd resort to whatever bullshit 'scheme' he liked to get the media's hard-on with.

Primo Carnera was large. Michael grant was Large. Valuev is LARGE. Some of you guys put way too much importance on size.

Ernie Terrell was quite a bit taller than Ali, Ali handled him with ease. Ok..so we're talking about 70s Ali and not 60s...doesn't matter that difference in talent between Ali of the 70s and Tyson fury is so vast it's ridiculous.

Yeah, and you've utterly forgotten how slow, ponderous, one-dimensional and robotic those guys were and how fast and agile Fury is.

Even Wlad conceded that much, post-fight interview..

Yeah yeah, size alone doesn't win anything.

It is YOU who should remember that. If Fury or Wlad were merely big and tall, they wouldn't have come this far. Carnera, Willard and Valuev were beaten by lesser guys.

Osvar Bonavena won rounds against 70s Ali, as did Ron Lyle. Did they win their rounds by being speed demons or perhaps technical masters? If size doesn't help then that can't be it

Ali would counter his jab with his own jab and Fury would spaz out and twitch and mug while getting tagged with right hands similar to nuclear bomb launched by the USS Cunningham.

A 10 year old could watch Fury fight and see he sucks... But Ronda Rouseys gone so I guess there's a void in your lives.

It's good he's likable but you're sounding like some truly desperate pathetic white people right now. And I've made it clear how I feel about Ali.

So, why is it that no-one of the hundreds of heavyweight boxers out there who box "better" than Fury can't beat him?

I'm sure plenty can and will but they'll still suck. You're making a fool of yourself.
