Is anyone watching? Ferguson / Barbosa was easily one of the best fights of the year.

Edgar / Mendes is an outstanding main event for a free card.

That was a great finish by ferguson.
Been seeing more of these heelhook shots lately. Ferguson made a few attempts vs barbosa earlier and hall also did it earlier in this finale fight.

That was a maia'esque performance by hall except he seems more versatile with his submission attacks.

It's a shame Edgar was on the wrong end of so many robberies or he'd be looked at as one of the best of all time.

I think that's why hardcore MMA fans rank him so highly.

So does McGregor run to 155 to avoid Frankie?

Mcgregor already mentioned that he's moving up in weight after tomorrow. Considering how he looked at the weigh-in, it's probably a wise move. Even if aldo loses tomorrow, id still would like to see the edgar rematch.

Mendes' punch resistence might not be there anymore since losing to aldo and conor. Edgar has fast hands but hes not really known to coldcock guys with one shot, especially so early in the fight.

I was just saying before the fight that Edgar doesn't have knockout power in his punches. This was the exact opposite of what I thought would happen.

Tony Ferguson might be a future LW champ, the guy is a beast. I thought Barboza would win a close decision, but he faltered yet again.

Ferguson's domination of Josh Thomson in his previous fight was eye opening for me. Thomson is a solid veteran and has fought some very good fighters without ever looking as clueless as Ferguson made him look.

Barboza was the UFC's 6th ranked LW. After the fight Ferguson said he was ready to knock off the top 5 one by one to get a title shot. What's funny is that the guy currently at #5 is Michael Johnson who was the last guy to beat Ferguson.

Johnson fights Nate Diaz next week. If Johnson wins, it sets up a very intriguing Ferguson-Johnson rematch.

Barbosa looked as good as he's ever looked last night. His kicks are so quick and powerful. Ferguson ate some huge shots and just kept coming with relentless pressure.

I could see Ferguson getting a title shot with another win or two. A rematch with Johnson would be fun, but I'm rooting for Nate next weekend.

REED Can't Say he's Seen Much of Maia, but has Read of his BJJ Wizardry...

From what REED HAS Seen, Ryan Hall is the Most ENTERTAINING Jiu-Jitsu Player He's EVER Witnessed...Hall Makes What Can Be a TEDIOUS, Hard to Watch Way of Fighting FUN...& He's SMART As Hell....

Case in Point, Even Though Hall SAYS his Striking's "Better than People Think", it Really ISN'T...As Such, Hall Seems to INTENTIONALLY Throw Slow, Lazy Ass Kicks and Punches, to LURE his Foe Into Attempting to Counter, Getting CLOSE Enough to Be Grabbed...& When they Inevitably Do, it's like an Insect TRAPPED in a Spider's Web...

Hall's LOOK Just Makes his Fights even MORE Entertaining...Very NORMAL Looking Dude...Not Overly Muscled, No Stereotypical ALPHA Male Qualities...An Almost NERDY, Extremely NON Threatening Looking Cat, that You'd See @ the Library or Convenience Store...

REED'll Definitely Be Keeping Tabs on his UFC Progress...

Yep, Somewhat Similar to the McGregor Fight, Mendes Seemed to Be In Control, UNTIL He Got Hit...

yeah, but that's pretty much his last sub against a top level fighter (unless you want to call Story a top level fighter, which is stretching it imo). That's the trouble with BJJ guys, they are fun to watch against average guys, cause they can pull out crazy sub, but against elite opposition, they can pretty much only control (at best) guys, which makes for very tepid fights.

Shields out grappled maia over 5 rounds. Had him on his back on a few occasions. Still not sure why hes been cut from the promotion. Maia dominates his c and b level foes but hes never beaten a top guy except for sonnen who's not exactly known for his submission defense

Shields is an elite grappler too. A lot of fans thought he was boring, so the UFC cut him after one loss to a roided up Hector Lombard. Jake Shields could still beat a lot of welterweights in the UFC today.
