As easy as their respective fights were, McGregor and Edgar could fight as early as March or April

I was confident that Weidman won the 1st, but a guy I watched the fight with thought Rockhold did so this matches up with your assessment. Weidman did so much more in the first 4 minutes, I just didn't think the last 60 seconds even made it all that close. Not as if it mattered...

All he had to do was wind up and land one shot bigger than the shit he was doing. Not that it mattered in the end...

Nah, it lost the fight for him, but isn't the same thing. It could have worked out. It shouldn't have mattered that he got taken down because, on paper, he just gets back up. Rockhold made it a stupid move, what Anderson did was stupid no matter what.

29 lbs in a day? I doubt it, mainly because I've never heard of anyone putting that much weight on before, even at Light Heavy.

This falls into the 'how he looked at the weigh ins, the stare down at the weigh ins, how they spoke in the fighter meetings or at press conferences, which horse looks the fastest, which horse takes a leak before the race, etc.' Everyone wants to have some insight to justify their pick. I doubt there's any reliability to any of it. But, it is fun for the speculator, I guess. When they are wrong, it's invariably forgotten.

It would be embarrassing for a knowledgeable fan of mma to try to draw any conclusions from one fight card.

Dont agree. If the fight went like 2 minutes, and both guys landed shots before Aldo sleeps, then I could see an immediate re.

As it sits, its a risky re from the business standpoint. Folks won't be happy if they shell out $$ and watch Aldo take an early nap again (and that would be the fear for prospective buyers). He needs to get in there and prove he is still elite, and can take shots.

Nah. He had a 15 month layoff and got caught cold. That's how they sell it.

yea, that's what he said in his interviews, saying that he won't vacate and will be active as a two division champ. i dont know, if he wins the lightweight title, can't really see him draining himself again to make 145. if edgar really wants that fight, he may have to move back up to 155, which shouldn't be an issue.

Mma ain't boxing man. People know that this loss doesn't mean the end of aldo. Cain got knocked out by JdS in a similar fashion and came back to whip his ass. And ring rust is real, so despite him knowing he had a fight, he could still be off

Edgar doesn't care about Conor, he just wants the belt. He won't go up to 155 again

This. I think Aldo could beat him in a rematch. That was one flukey punch.

It wasn't a fluke punch. Especially since Conner predicted that Aldo would do what he did and that Conner would take him out. Word for word what Conner said would happen, happened. Word for word

Yeah, and what were the odds to predict something like that and get it done? One in a million.

I don't think it was a fluke, Aldo rushed in and got countered beautifully. Aldo was sloppy and paid the price.

No such thing as a "flukey" punch.

Got to give it to him though. Conor is the biggest name in the fight game right now. Period. Boxing included.

It wasn't like McGregor was swinging for the hell of it and landed a lucky shot.
