Inspired by the BALLSY Asswhipping's Jean Pascal Took from Sergey Kovalev...

Since Ali or Ray Leonard, Has there Been a TOUGHER Finesse Fighter than Jean Pascal???...Dude is PERPETUALLY Jittery and Obviously Would Rather Win via Speed/Movement & ZERO Drama....Yet When he's Given No Other Choice but to TAKE his Asswhipping like a Man, Pascal is ALL Man...

He's Taken a LOT of Punishment in his Last 3 Fights & Quite Frankly Has EARNED More Respect from REED than he Had in All of Previous 30+ Bouts Put Together...

Name Some Other TOUGH Finesse Fighters...

Been a while that we knew Pascal was tough in Quebec. He won with a dismantled shoulder vs Diaconnu. He was also rocked several times earlier in his career and came back right after. Still, I wouldn't classify him as a finesse fighter. He's all about bull rush and physicality

Agreed that Pascal is not a finesse fighter. The guy is an athletic speedy slugger , a la Mosley and Berto. He sometimes tries to box, but hes awful at it, getting tagged by telegraphed punches. Weirdly enough, his defense is better when he slugs, than when he tries to be cute. And while Pascal deserves credit for being a tough mf, as he shown numerous times in his career, last saturday fight was, imo, damaging to his reputation as a tough guy. He was tentative and scared, and didnt even gave himself a chance to win the fight. And to be honest, the beating he received wasnt even that severe, he got hit a lot more in the first fight. He basically did a Bute

Pernell Whitaker... No bitch in him. Lasted 12 with Trinidad with a broken jaw, after the 8th round I believe.

Lennox was a lot tougher than given credit for. He fought to the end.

Pernell Whitaker is a GOOD CALL! Perfect example. Lennox isn't really a finesse fighter.

Yes....I must say it...and get heat for it....but......

Floyd Mayweather Jnr. As slick as they come and as tough as they come. If anyone ever saw Mayweather vs Burton/Augustus they know that the guy was tough. Plus he fought a guy with two broken hands, Castillo with a bad shoulder and showed mettle against Mosley when badly shaken.

Stevie Johnston comes to mind. No bitch in Stevie. His chin/toughness was never again the same after Lazcano cracked it, but in his prime he was tough as nails and had a warriors spirit despite his lack of pop.

Shane Mosley? I mean he was no master boxer, but he had some finesse about him. A little pivot here, a little southpaw switch there, some shoeshines, rolling of the fists, fancy head feints that served no purpose etc.

I don't think of him as a finesse fighter, really and I also think his toughness is way overrated... Durable yes, tough? I think the dude was petrified of getting hurt

Call REED Crazy, but the Very LAST Adjective He'd Use to Describe Pascal is "PHYSICAL"...

Pascal Wants to Use ANGLES, SPEED, DECEPTION (Catching Guys w/Shots they DON'T See), COUNTER PUNCHING...Those are Characteristics of FINESSE Fighters...Not Exclusive To Them, Obviously, but Common Traits, Nonetheless...

The Fact that Pascal PREFERS to Fight "Cute", More Often than Not, is What MAKES him a FINESSE Fighter, in REED's Opinion...

    SHINING Example...

Was @ a Size DISadvantage in 90-95% of his Fights, Was a PIVOTER, Not a Runner, Hung In the Pocket a LOT Loooooooooooooonger than Given Credit For, INITIATING More Exchanges than Given Credit For & Yes, Would Take his Asswhipping like a Man, As He Did Against Tito Who MANY (REED Included) Expected to END Him...

Agree with you on Floyd. As much as I hate the guy he proved himself a genuine tough guy on the few occasions he found himself in trouble and had to bite down on his gum shield.

I dont think floyd fit, cause he almost never had to prove it. Sure he had some rough patches here and there, but nothing that make you says 'damn that dude is hard'

Exactly. It's a credit to Floyd that he never really had to go through many rough spots, but you can't really list him as a "tough" fighter. It's somewhat similar to evaluating a boxer's chin. If a guy has 40+ fights against high calibre opposition without getting KO'd or knocked down obviously their chin is at a minimum solid. If however they rarely get hit clean or often there is no evidence to how good a beard they actually have. You can speculate, but without that evidence it remains only speculation.

Nah...he's tough. He took big bombs from Cotto and Maidana, slugged it out with Burton, came right back at Mosley after being rocked, Stood toe to toe with Castillo when he had a bad shoulder (11th round), beat that one dude with two bad hands, rope a doped Jesus Chavez to "bolivian".

As you said, it's a credit to him that he hasn't had to go through many tough spots...and that's why he's actually GREAT (greater than given credit for) but he's seen just about enough adversity to show he can handle it.

Yeah, Mosley had a real tendency to go into a shell, and hold a lot, when he was getting hit consistently. Forrest 2, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Wright, and to a lesser extent, the DLH rematch. Not so much against Cotto although he did hold a lot.

He took his beating against Canelo like a man though. He took clean shot after clean shot and kept trying. Makes me wonder if it was just something about Shane that night or if it's a knock on Canelo's power. I've always thought Canelo had decent power.
