The Bronx Bull vs The Ghost Of Course LaMotta is an all time great. he was the first man to beat the legendary Sugar Ray Robinson and was a man with an iron chin and indomitable will. Pavlik's best wins were again Jermain Taylor who's not in Robinson's class and he lost to an old Hopkins. So what does this all mean? It means....nothing. Pavlik would DESTROY that short, T-rex armed Italian bighead! UTTER MISMATCH! Pavlik would fuck him up big time.
LMAO! Lamotta would beat the fuck outta Pavlik. Literally, Kelly's ONLY edge on Lamotta is being a bigger puncher, which is nullified by Lamotta's chin. Lamotta was tougher, more skilled defensively, physically stronger, and had a higher ring IQ.
No way. Being a greater name doesn't necessarily translate to being better head to head. Pavlik is so much bigger than LaMotta it's unreal. It's not like Jake had the power or exceptional boxing skills to nullify the difference in height and reach. Pavlik hits harder too...and has more than a good enough chin to take Jake's shots.
According to the old timers, Lamotta used to gain a CRAZY amount of weight coming into the ring. Pavlik from my recollection, never put on THAT much weight. I think on average he was coming into the ring at like 168-170, which isn't a significant gain. Lamotta could very have been weighing 168-170 by time he was in the ring, and was WITH the day weigh-in. Even IF Kelly had 4-5 pounds on him coming in, I think Lamotta still wins.
Weight doesn't tell you everything about size though. James Toney sometimes weighted 230lbs or more in the ring. Was he as big as the Bowe that fought Holyfield the first time? Pavlik is significantly bigger than Jake LaMotta.
Correction: Pavlik was significantly TALLER than Lamotta. Pavlik would get countered to death. Kelly was slow handed with a basic offense. The Hell do you expect him to light up Lamotta with Robinson-like machine gun combos?
People forget that Lamotta lost to a whole bunch of bums as well as giving Robinson his first defeat. Also you must consider that Pavlik would have likely decimated most of Lamotta's opposition.
Pavlik wouldn't beat Steve Collins, let alone Lamotta. I say that because Collins was a poor man's Lamotta.
Perhaps, but it'll be Mythical. Pavlik only ever lost once to a Middleweight...Lamotta's ACTUALLY been beaten numerous times at Middleweight and many were before he was shot. So again...Robinson isn't the only blueprint as to how to beat LaMotta.
