I like that Algieri is confident and is not just here to lay down. I still think Spence will take him in deep water and drown him, but hopefully it's interesting.
Good move by Spence. Algieri is a quality opponent, but I think that Spence agressive style will really shine against him.
would absolutely crack up if algieri managed to win. as it is, if he gives spence any trouble at all it will be a negative for spence, since so many are willing to call him great before he's faced a single real opponent.
Spence has to have one of the worst resumes in all of boxing for a 26 year-old prospect. It's about time his people stopped protecting him and let him face a decent opponent.
NOBODY's "Protected" Him... Spence has Been Trying to Land NAME Opponents Since his 2nd Year as a Pro and that's a FACT... REED:mj:
No, He's Asking You to SPECIFY who a "Real" Opponent Is, so If/When Spence Fights One (In a Reasonable Time Frame, Obviously), You Won't Be Able to HATE, the Way You Did Even AFTER Roy Jones Wiped his Ass w/Julio Gonzalez, Who YOU PREDICTED Would Beat Roy... Given the POLITICAL Climate, Even Boxing Messageboard's Require a CHECKS AND BALANCES System... REED:mj:
Anyone with a pulse. I'm not impressed when someone who is supposed to be the next great fighter beats the shit out of guys like Lo Greco and Van Heerden. Algieri is correct. Spence hasn't fought anyone.
coming out fight for Spence, Algieri si tricky and solid but not a top notch fighter. He's still the best opponent Spence will have fought, by far, and should help us gauge his level.
Algieri is a fringe contender. If Spence destroys him like he should, it tells us that he isn't a fraud. It isn't Spence who has avoided the top guys.
But You Concede, You're Reluctant to SPECIFY Who a "Real" Opponent Is, So As to Maintain a POV to BITCH about Spence From, Right???... REED:mj:
i am not reluctant. i just found the question odd. real opponents for spence would be the top guys in his division. garcia thurman bradley pacquiao porter obviously, because of politics he's not going to get fights with all these guys. but until he's faced the likes of these guys, let alone beaten them, it is hard to fathom all the hype.
the hype? :: is the hype coming from a dozen of the posters on this website who seen the kid and reckon he is a talent? from the announcers? spence reminds me of a young shane mosley. people said he was fighting no one at lightweight when you had the other main guy in the division (johnston) doing everything he could to avoid the fight. bottom line is, spence is in the position a lot of talented fighters are in where until they build a fan base name opponents arent gonna be anxious to face him. haymon at least has ponied up some bread for this scrub algeiri to take an ass whipping, and hopefully he follows thru with it.
This is the ONLY Aspect of Spence-Algieri that CONCERNS REED; Algieri Pulling Out, as Leonard Bundu, Mike Arnaoutis and others Have Done in the Recent Past... If Algieiri Just SHOWS UP April 16th, Everything Else Will Take Care of Itself... REED:mj:
Spence will be the first fighter to KO ALGIERI....Spence will have a feel day...ALGIERI will do his usual retreating thing but spence will attac...attack n attack. He will have fun in there....
So would Scott Ledoux, what is your point? You don't get seen as a good fighter just because you're willing to take a shitkicking from anybody out there
