Great great performance by Spence. Even if he looks like a fag, the guy has a real killers mentality Must also gives credit to Algieri for the toughness he displayed.
Spence would stop provodnikov. I didn't get to see him stop algieri out here but surprised it lasted that long
Verdejo still has a long way to go. Potential is there but he isn't the finished product. Spence is. And he's ready to take over 147 lbs.
Based on how he look tonight, I'm not sure I'd pick anyone over him. Him against Brooks is a very interesting fight though
Brook is his biggest test at 147. But unless he can't handle Brook's right hand, then realistically, Brook gets an ass whuppin and gets stopped late.
I'm not sure Brooks is better than Thurman. Beside beating Porter by a very close decision, he has done fuck all in the rest of his career. Sure he looked impressive blowing out the Jo Jo Dan and Bizier of this world, but even I would look like a young mike tyson against them.
Anyone watching the UNIMAS bouts? Verdejo is about to fight now. But the prior fight between Diaz & Gimenez will be hard to surpass: best fight of the year!
That Mexican Jose Luis Rodriguez apparently did not read the memo that he was supposed to play an easy victim for Verdejo and is giving him a hard fight. Verdejo has punched him with everything and the Mexican keeps coming forward and attacking.
Diaz can fight. He might no be elite but he has upside. Verdejo doing his thing so far. But would like to see him commit more to the jab and develop a more consistent body attack.
Didn't see the fight...but Verdejo just needs a new trainer....help him develop more...it has gone as far as he's going to go with his uncle...dad..whatever that moterhfucker who trains him..
Verdejo's already penned in for June against Jose Felix. Make or break fight for Verdejo. He's gotta win in style or he'll likely never live up to his promise.
He's one of the best body punchers in the sport. In fact, I'd go as far as say he's the second best body puncher in the sport behind Golov. Loma gets SOOOOO much praise for his body attack, but really, I fail to see how Loma's body work is any better than Spence's.
Yup. He needs to come up with more tricks in his bag and a better plan or one day an intelligent boxer will figure out his limitations and capitalize on that.
Yeah, there's now SERIOUS questions about Verdejo. He looked like a future star 5 fights ago, but he's getting semi-exposed now. I'm rooting for him, cause he's a charismatic kid and if he gets big he can generate a lot of interest. But he's looking questionable right now. You can already throw Trinidad out the window. He's NEVER gonna touch the level Trinidad was on. He just doesn't have a fraction of Trinidad's talent. Hate to say it, but he's probably not gonna be as good as prime Cotto either. He needs to remain at 135 as long as he can, because at this point he'd get eaten alive by the best junior welters.
Part of the problem is Verdejo trying to be Trinidad. He's not as talented and he'll never be that kind of puncher. He's gotta fight to his strengths and evolve naturally.
