Good one. It wasn't one sided per se but it was quick.

Seems hard to believe now, but Tszyu-Judah wasn't considered a pick em. Zab was the betting favorite, and MOST the boxing media and boxing forums picked Zab.

I picked Zab too and with good reason ( at the time). Tszyu had recently struggled with Sharmba Mitchell, an injured Sharmba Mitchell at that. He looked ready to be taken. Zab was undefeated, powerful and lightening fast. Basically he appeared to be Mitchell on super soldier serum.

First round made it look like many of us predicted but boy were we wrong. Zab was a head case with great natural abilities but no defense or boxing acumen.

I'd say it was evident that Tszyu was already starting to figure him out by the 2nd minute ... Judah had a mild edge at best

Blah blah blah....Zab clearly won the round as Slice said and that was my only point. As I said before It's moot though since he was cold cocked in the very next round.

Calzaghe proved himself when he beat Hopkins, even though it was close. Hopkins had dominated both Tarver and Pavlik just before and just after that fight, proving that he was still among the best in the world. For Calzaghe to beat him he had to be good.

CalAghe also beat Eubank and Kessler fairly clearly. He proved his undefeated record wasn't due to luck or avoiding any challenges.

Was Chavez-Rosario considered a pick em?

If it was, talk about a mercy stoppage when the corner FINALLY threw in the towel. Poignant sight as well after it was called off the way Richard Steele looked at Rosario with compassion and sympathy at the same time. Chapo was known as a front runner but on that night, he never quit nor folded. He was just outclassed.

I didn't think that was all that one-sided.

Tapia clearly won, don't get me wrong. But Romero got in his licks.

Possibly, it's just on my reading of it, a lot of people seemed to think Romero could just blow him away. That Tapia was never in any danger throughout appears to have been something of a shock.

I saw the fight live and remember thinking Tapia won it clear, but not like it was near shutout. The announcers also weren't quite certain, and not because of the usual "you never know in boxing" kind of thing . They thought some of the close rounds could have went to Romero, especially as Tapia was doing some showboating which many judges don't like.

I agree, but in this case, it was more sort of a general feeling that Tapia would taste canvas or get rocked at some point, it HAD to happen......but it didn't....and Tapia , basically as you say, coasted and did as he pleased.

Romero, as Manny Steward would have put it, was generating lots of "excitement and noise".........but as I say, it was broadly anticipated that Romero would shake Tapia at some point and Tapia would have to come through it.

Instead, Tapia just sort of flitted about. All night.

Grant, like Lacy, became an overrated bum after the fact.

Grant was even worse than Lacy. Grant was an absolute utter bum. I can't believe people actually though he had a chance to beat Lewis. I was surprised it didn't end in the first round. The guy looked like he had no boxing training whatsoever.

Indeed. Not only were people expecting it to be more competitive, but more exciting. Romero's power appeared to have no affect on Tapia at all. I don't know if Tapia was just playing it off which hurt Romero's confidence, or if he genuinely had no trouble with it. After the loss to Tapia it was the end of the road for him being considered at or near the elite level. Either he was a just overrated to begin with or that fight took something from him mentally.
