Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out of The Shadows
debuted in the first spot this weekend with a somewhat unspectacular $36 million. Taking in consideration that this is a $135 million budget film and that this kind of summer 'blockbusters' are very front loaded, these numbers are anything but anemic. The CGI turtles now need to relay on extremely great numbers overseas to make a profit or not to lose much steam domestically.

Falling to the second spot with a 66% drop, last week's champ X-Men: Apocalypse added $22.3 million to its bank. The superhero film is still trailing way behind the last installment in the franchise and might end its domestic run with probably less than half of the grosses of 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' ...or a little bit more than half.

Debuting in the third place with better numbers than expected is Emilia Clarke's romantic melodrama Me Before You which took $18.3 million. The predictions were putting the $20 million film in the $12-$14 million debut which is what is typical for this kind of film. However its better than predicted numbers could be due to the 'Game of Thrones' Khaleesi fans who wants to see Clarke finding love (at last!).

Things continue looking grim for Disney's pricey flop Alice Through the Looking Glass. With a 59% drop from its abysmal $29 million debut, the fantasy sequel was elbowed to the fourth place for a paltry $11 million. If anyone at Disney has any brains they will need to stop hiring Johnny Depp in big budget films: the guy hasn't had a hit since, well the last 'Alice' film in 2010. Just to give you an idea how bad this film is performing compare the numbers of the first film with this sequel after 10 days: 'Alice in Wonderland' 10 days domestic gross: $209.3 million. "Alice Through The Looking Glass' 10 days domestic gross: $50.7 million.

Rounding up the top five The Angry Birds Movie added $9.7 million for a three weeks domestic total of $86.6 million.

Captain America: Civil War added $7 million to its domestic grosses for a 31 days take of $388 million and still this year's highest grossing film.
    TAKE THAT, RAINMAKER!!! :Bad:

I forgot to mention that the other film debut this weekend POPSTAR: Never Stop Never Stopping debuted in the 8th place with a lame $4.2 million and joining the list of flops of the year.

Zootopia crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide becoming the second movie this year to accomplish that feat, behind also Disney's Captain America: Civil War and the fourth animated film in history to reach that number. So far Disney is the current box office champ of the year as the next best grosser is The Jungle Book with close to $900 million.

So glad that Turtles film flopped. It finally looks like everything Michael Bay touches isn't gold. Incidentally he has another Transformers film in the works dropping next year.
