Mosley wins. Tall Paul was too hittable. Competitive fight for awhile, but Shane's cleaner shots carry the day. Possibly of Mosley stopping him late.
LMFAO. Are you kidding me? Paul Williams was one of the dumbest fighters to ever lace them up. He always threw his advantages of length and height right out the window and chose to stand right in front of his opponents and slug with them. This is why I say Shane would have stopped him. I don't see why y'all don't think Mosley would have KO'd him but judging from how dumb Paul fights and how Mosley always whips dudes who come to him aggressively I definitely see Paul getting stopped one way or the other.
Mosley's power is one of the most underrated attributes off are thyme, he hit like a motherfucker with both hands- no reason he couldn't stop williams....guys who came forward with volume were exactly the type shane used to eat up, too
Since when did Tall Paul become Hagler? His chin was NOT granite. If Mosley can stop Marg, why can't he stop Williams?
Tall Paul, bless his paralyzed heart, is INSANELY overrated to this day. Mosley was a better fighter, plain and simple.
Mosley stopping Margarito is still a mystery to me. But that aside, Margarito would just leave his face out there to be hit so of course a slugger like Mosley could stop him eventually. You get hit enough you lose no matter who you are...iron jawed McClellan learned that against Benn
No, you overrate Shane's power. You seem to put it on Hearns or Benn level. Shane didn't even hit harder than De La Hoya let alone Trinidad let alone "hard as a motherfucker". He was a good solid puncher on the level of a guy like Cotto.
I didn't pick the shot mayorga to beat Mosley. I was surprised shot mayorga beat shot Vargas to be honest. Pre Tito mayorga, the one that beat Forrest and still believed in his chin and resolve, I'd have picked that version to beat Shane no doubt
:::::: Mosley was shot too! I know it fits into your Floyd-loving agenda to believe Shane had much left in the tank by 09-10, but the truth is he was an absolute SHELL by then of the fighter he was at his 98-01 peak. Shane Mosley was VERY FUCKING GOOD! Your only retort is to say "He wasn't Leonard! He wasn't Roy!".... Well, no shit! Doesn't mean he wasn't an excellent fighter. Your main knock on him is always that he lacked IQ, but in this case that doesn't apply. Paul Williams was as a dumb as a bag of hammers inside a boxing ring.
I'm hard in Shane, a little too hard at times. He was a good fighter, I'm just saying that he had glaring limitations that were disguised by his hand speed and fancy movements.
Williams was even dumber than Mosley. Not much skill between them but I'll go with quicker handed guy here. Mosley via UD.
Where on earth have I ever suggested shane hit as hard as Hearns? Yes, about as hard as Oscar or, I would argue, slightly harder factoring in he was properly 2 fisted - definitely hard enough to stop tall Paul (or nearly any welter) if he hit him often enough
Paul Williams was rocked by Sharmba Mitchell and Lucas Matthysse's brother. His chin was a MYTH! He had had a solid chin, but Mosley hitting him enough times he could definitely get stopped. ONE thing about Shane Mosley, once he got a guy in serious trouble, he was one of the best finishers of the last 20 years.
Yup Shane was a finisher but his punch power is overrated. Forrest walked through his punches in two fights. Oscar got hit with everything including the kitchen sink in that first fight and barely flinched. Winky gave Shane a few free shots if I remember. It's easy to finish Diaz, Taylor and Stone.
Shane fucked up every aggressive come forward guy he ever fought...including Oscar when he elected to fight that way
I agree with a lot of your stuff on Shane, but that one is ridiculous. Yeah, and Winky got hurt and wobbled from those free shots followed by an ass chewing from his trainer. Still though, once again I agree Shane's power is a bit overrated on these forums. Back in the day his power was considered more tame then it is these days, but at the same time he seemed to hit harder as he moved up in weight. Let's not forget he did KO Vargas and Mayorga who were both about as shot as he was. So let's not underrate Shane's power too much when we claim it's overrated. In other words he definitely would have hit Williams enough to either KO him or get the ref to stop it. Williams was a slugger and not a very good one, so I seriously hope you didn't pick him over Shane.
