Corrales did fight at welter, but that match-up would be the slaughter of the century so I'm not gonna put that weight class in. Who wins at LW?
Maybe the worst possible matchup for Corrales. Usually in matchups where Chico is an underdog, I at least give him a puncher's chance, but given Shane's chin he doesn't even have that. Mosley lands first, early, and often and Corrales is unable to handle the combination of handspeed/power. Mosley TKO 7.
Chico's chin could let him down but he gives Shane hell in this guaranteed slugfest and is beating him on points ( Chico had much better workrate and combinations inside than Shane you see) until Shane eventually checks that chin by the 8th round. Shane leaves the fight pretty beaten up though and doesn't smile much during the post fight interview due to the pain. Sluggers have to earn their victories the hard way, you see.

the ability to throw lightening fast punches in a flurry isn't the only factor that goes into beating an opponent to the punch. That's the type of simplistic thinking that sometimes makes this forum so nauseating. Timing, reflexes, workrate and combination punching prowess are other factors that can offset an advantage in flurrying speed. MMs frustrate me I must admit, because what I say can't be proven right, even though I know I'm right. Arghhhhhhh!!!!
You think Corrales would beat Shane to the punch? Dude, it took Chico about 6-7 rounds of getting beat the punch by Acelino fuckin Freitas before he came on. The power gap here isn't enormous. Shane was indeed a legit puncher at 135. The speed gap IS enormous though. Corrales wouldn't avoid Shane's lead right to save his life, and he wouldn't take too many of them. Big mismatch.
This is your Floyd cock licking agenda coming into play. Shane wouldn't have to utilize the same strategy as Floyd. While not as elusive or as technically proficient as Floyd, Shane had better handspeed than Floyd, waaayyyyyy more power, and was physically stronger. Does Corrales land on Shane more than he did Floyd? Yeah. But he also gets beat up worse and taken out quicker.
