    Actually didn't mind this. Interesting premise and a fun watch. Very stylistic in that 'Crouching Tiger' mode.

    I'm not sure why anyone cried about cultural appropriation in this film. Damon is a guy good with a bow and a veteran soldier. For the most part, aside from the capture scene, he doesn't even get the glory in this film.

    I wouldn't buy it but it wasn't dire.

    Haven't seen this either. Not because I'm boycotting Matt Damon on political grounds, like you seem to be doing, but because it looks kind of shit. Might see it someday by accident though, so you never know.

    I'll agree with you on the cultural appropriation nonsense though. It likely has a basis in certain areas, but for the most part it seems silly and overzealous to me.

    I remember when everybody was losing their shit about Tom Cruise being "The Last Samurai". Not only was it a pretty decent movie.............but Cruise wasn't the last fucking samurai they were referring to in the film.

    Most galling was when you spoke to people who claimed they actually watched the movie, and would still go on the "Tom Cruise is not even Japanese, how could he be the last samurai?" spiel. I'd just be like, "Fuck off then! Really? I guess you suck at watching movies then to."

    I am not boycotting Damon for political reasons. I just dont think he is an action star. I watched his mars movie and Talented Mr. Ripley is one of my favorite movies of all time. I boycott some movies that are political tho, i suppose.

    Exactly the same thing as the Last Samurai. Damon isn't some white dude saving the Asians. TLS had that shit on it and like Nobes said, the title doesn't refer to Cruise.

    TGW isn't a great film but it's a decent throwaway movie if it's on. Definitely not a buy.

    to me in the trailer the dragon looked very fake. Was that so in the movie?

    Also, isnt the great wall story about a white man? So how the hell can they claim cultural appropriation?
