I think he's rated accordingly. He had good speed, but not ATG speed, and pretty much everyone acknowledge that he was fast

He didn't have Pacquiao speed or anything like that, so in a sense I'd agree. He was no slouch though, especially at super-bantamweight before he stepped up to fight Robinson.

Yep, good point. Same with Roy Jones, although Jones was phenomenally fast with hands and feet anyway, in a different stratosphere to Hamed.

Hamed was flexible and had great (fast) body movements as you said. His handspeed wasn't all that though

Young Tua had underrated handspeed. Today, we think of him as a slow, fat sonuvabitch. But circa 96-97 when he was in the 220s he had well above average handspeed for a heavyweight. Far from Tyson fast, but pretty fast for his build.

Man I'd been telling people way back during the boxingtime.com days that Floyd's hands were no longer as fast once he left 130 and that I'd never once seen the supposed fast hands of Hamed which I was probably saying all the way back at boxing.com.

Also I disagree that Tito had underrated fast hand speed. Maybe some guys are better at not telegraphing their punches and I wouldn't argue him on that, but Tito definitely shouldn't be considered an underratedly fast puncher. His hand speed was pretty average at best.

Ah yes, those were the days,.."Lib four Lib" - has been a deliberate scuffing of your forum name for the past 15 years,... I think we must have got off to a rough start?... :dunno:

They're ancestral tics,.. like it's mandatory to say 'please' when addressing either Reed or Lok,.. it's indicative that we never brawled but often disagreed, however in your case, I've scrambled your good name into nonsense "Lib four Lib",.. PLUS there's the mandatory 'please' added to it as well,...you and I must have really twisted at the scruff, had some wild wolven rip ups, ..though it was too long ago to properly remember - or maybe I wanted to forget,.. I must have lost,......what did you do? :nono:

Saying Trinidad had average handspeed is absolutely ridiculous.

There's far too many examples to point out of him having fast hands.

Off the top of my head, pointing out one... the first combo he dropped David Reid with. He finished it off with a hook that dropped him, but it was lightning quick.

No one is saying that Tito had Tyson handspeed, but it sure as Hell was WELL above average.

Average handspeed (for a top fighter) would be Danny Garcia.

    AGREED 100%.

Watch that shit on the replay... Even there it's still tricky to catch... It was a left hook-right hook-left hook combination and Reid NEVER saw it.

Also the straight right hand leads Trinidad landed on Vargas with no jab to set up were very quick, not to mention the first left hook that countered a jab by Vargas.

The straight right lead that dropped Sweet Pea... Yes Whitaker was past it we all know that, but he still went 12 rounds with Trinidad, and made him miss enough to not get stopped.

Trinidad wasn't Leonard. I will not dispute that. Hell, he wasn't even Benitez. But he was FAR from slow and quicker than most on here remember. His footwork wasn't the greatest, I admit. But his hands were pretty fast indeed.
