Inferno froze, Madea is Da Man again at the box office.

Count two big Hollywood superstars that Tyler Perry has murdered at the box office. Last week BOO! A Madea Halloween slaughtered Tom Cruise. This week it was another Tom (Hanks) who became the sacrificial lamb at the hands of the unfunny Perry cross-dresser washed-up routine. 'BOO!' took again the top spot with a $16.6 million gross in its second week, droping just a mere 41% from last week.

Debuting in the second place is Tom Hanks third entry in the Dan Brown-based franchise Inferno which flunked with an anemic $15 million, which is a far cry from the prior film Angels & Demons that opened with $41 million which also opened lower that the first film The DaVinci Code which opened to $77 million. While Inferno might look like it will not gross more than $40 million domestically, the studio might not bleed much for the $75 million budget film has grossed already $137 million at the international front. So the film might recoup its investment, but not show much profit.

Meanwhile Jack Reacher: Never Go Back fell to the third spot with $9.5 million with a 58% drop. The Accountant is holding nicely in the fourth spot with $8.4 million.

And in the fifth position Ouija: The Origin of Evil added $7 million to its domestic grosses.

But the big news is that Marvel's Doctor Strange opened to $86 million in 33 territories or 45% of the international front. This is a much better opening on those same amount of markets than other Marvel films (Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Thor: the Dark World). Not bad for a relatively unknown character in those markets and the one many thought will be Marvel toughest sell to date!

Da Vinci Code, and Angels & Demons were both bore fests.

Time to retire this franchise.
