Single GREATEST movie of all time

The Lion King is the best animated film, IMO and a definite top 20 all time film for my money.

Braveheart is up there for me too as is crimson tide.

My top 5 is

Godfather
Ben Hur
Chariots of Fire
Crimson Tide
Braveheart/Lion King

Extremely Historically inaccurate, yes, but if you look at it as just a film and not as a historically piece it is excellent.

Since I just posted an appreciation thread on it, I do think Psycho is a top 10ish all time great movie. You have to consider all genres, and Psycho is the best thriller of all time and belongs among the elite movies period.

 

I find him pretty ridiculous in anything other than action-slapstick like Lethal Weapon

 

That pick makes sense if a dude has seen like 10 movies in his life and 5 of them are Police Academies and one of them is Crimson Tide::::

 

Crimson Tide isn't even a top 5 movie from 90-95. And once again, I say that as fan of it. Great acting from both Denzel and Hackman, and it's a VERY GOOD movie.... but Jeeeessuusss Christ it ain't no top 5 movie in history!

 

I did...even though it was over 20+ years ago...I'm pretty sure I owned a dvd or vdieo copy of it...maybe got it from columbia house dvd..

 

I will say, Crimson Tide is more rewatchable than Heat. And I find the Denzel/Hackman pairing to better than the Deniro/Pacino pairing.

I will say about Sly's pick that the Lion King is the best animated movie of all time, and does belong on the list.... just not top 5. Top 15-20ish maybe.

 

I think it's a top 5 all time film and I don't give a fuuuuuuuck what anyone else thinks. The film is incredible.

This is our personal lists. By what criteria do you suggest we use then, if it isn't subjective? The films with the most academy awards? In that case you'd have to bow to Titanic, Return of the King and Ben Hur. Highest Rotten Tomatoes scores? Then prepare for Guardians of the Galaxy and Civil War. Or do we just pick films from the black and white era.

Why don't you give me your list? Or are you too CHICKEN to offer one and expose yourself to criticism? ;)
