LOVE me some Columbo films...specifically the first 4 seasons.

I know he was a PI and not a detective, but Jim Rockford was legit

 

The main theme from The Rockford Files remains a favorite of mine.

mid 60s to late 70's cops & detectives shows dominated the tv programing. Most of them were pretty good, better than most of our modern crime shows.

pretty much and it all really started with The Rockford Files... The theme became well known and from there on, he was THE guy for the next couple of decades
