Raging Bull doesn't come close to the hype about it being a great movie, because it's not. It's one of those movies people look at and say "It's a black and white movie filmed in the 80's so it MUST be good.

It's because a Scorsese movie that stars Deniro. That's why people assume it's a masterpiece.

    Terminator
    Robocop
Rocky 3 when he goes from Joe Frazier to Muhammad Ali, or maybe 4 when he ends the Cold War

Can't forget about classics like 48 Hrs, Predator, Beverly Hills Cop, The Running Man, Coming to America, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, and Aliens. Aliens is mostly great. Mostly.

Same here. It should be a movie I love, with it being about boxing and a Scorsese/De Niro collaboration, but something about it is missing for me. There are some amazing scenes and performances, but it is indeed sluggish. I personally enjoyed "The King of Comedy" more.

I love raging bull. Deniro at his best IMO. That wasn't Lemotta, that was deniro playing piece of shit boxer. And Joe Peci was brilliant.

I'm not a huge fan of the movie, but Taxi Driver is clearly Deniro's best performance, not Raging Bullshit.

80s had some great films....specifically for entertainment value if not for artistic value. All of the Arnie flicks were good for example.
