    Interesting find.

In most rules (the alphabets) the referee alone decides when the fight ends, on other words he doesn't need to care about a towel at all, if he chooses not to.

The rule is plausible since an outsider could throw the towel too, but it does leave some chances for a sadistic ref

If it comes to down to it (in the case of an ignored towel) isn't it a dq if a corner man rushes the ring?

    It should be.

Junior Jones/MA Barrera comes to mind.

Junior Jones was involved in another weird incident. When he fought his old friend Kennedy McKinney, during the ref instructions where they meet in the center of the ring, McKinney refused to face Jones. So both fighters were faced in the same direction (toward McKinney's corner) with Jones facing McKinney's back. McKinney said he did it because Jones had done and interview and spoke about McKinney's problems with drugs.

The weird face off is between 8:00 -8:45 or so.

Yep, that is a way to rescue a fighter and also save him from KO
