wlad would be much bigger but I can hear Louis responding to this point "I've knocked out giants before". Of course Wlad is no Primo Carnera, Buddy Baer or Two Ton Galento but if Wlad can be knocked out by sanders and Lamon Brewster, and dropped repeatedly by Peter, Louis could certainly knock him into next week. I pick Louis to get in behind his hard jab and nail Wlad with pinpoint accurate bombs on the inside. Louis KO 5
Joe Louis was more dynamic with his offense. 9 times outta 10, he'd get in there behind that jab and finish Klitschko with a left hook. Louis KO 6
I must say, I'm very surprised. I thought for sure you were picking Wald. Not too much for me to add. I agree with every word. Louis KO 6 sounds about right... although I could see him ending it even sooner. The greatest offensive fighter that ever lived against a man as fragile as Wald has disaster written all over it.
I see the point about Sanders and Brewster, even though one could argue it wasn't the prime Wlad, as his prime depended more on suitable tactics than physical attributes. However, we mustn't forget that Louis went 12+ rounds against 175 lbs Billy Conn. Call me uninformed, but it is difficult to see modern great heavyweights having such trouble. Also Louis didn't just steamroll Arturo Godoy nor Tommy Farr, even though the image if him should have done that
I know you're a Wald apologist, but the fact is he's never displayed anything to suggest he could deal with a prime Louis. Height/size is what he has going for him over Louis, but the Brown Bomber with that ramrod jab of his would find his way inside Wald's range, and once he starts landing consistently Wald's shit chin isn't gonna fare too well. And once he's in trouble... fight over. Louis was perhaps the best finisher in history.
Ha the typical excuse of wlad not being in his prime. But, as surprising as it seems, and as much it disgust me to say it, I think wlad wins this one. Simply too big.
I just don't see Klitschko getting there first. The power of Louis jab would make him tentative or starters, and would have him backing up the whole time. Size difference wouldn't mean much here. I simply see Louis getting there quicker and being first. Plus his better variety on offense than Wlad. Would be a definite KO.
I see the point for Louis of course. However as there are examples of Wlad collapsing against lesser fighters than Louis, there are many more examples of Louis having trouble against lesser guys too. I don't see how anyone can look at Louis going 12+ rounds against Conn, Farr, Godoy etc and going down against Galentos and Walcotts, and then assume he has no trouble whatsoever with Wlad
What UGO has said cannot be discounted. He's made good points. But Louis will get inside on Wlad behind that ramrod jab and on close inside punching Louis would nail him left right and centre. Of course if Wlad manages to keep Louis at bay and nail him from the outside, he could definitely hurt and stop Louis....but the way they fight I see Louis getting to him first.
