Knowing you, Xplosive, I'm sure you'd pick Cotto to KO Thurman in 3 rounds or something....considering Thurman is contemporary as well as the fact that you hate his style. However... I see a pick'em. Cotto was fragile and Thurman has decent power. Cotto had better punches, but Thurman's style may trouble him. Could go either way.
Thurman's contemporary, but Cotto's only one generation before... not exactly a golden era, and the guy is still an ACTIVE fighter for Christ Sake. I'm pretty SHOCKED you call it a pick em. Usually you jock Floyd victims to no end. But this is a case where I think the Floyd victim wins big. Cotto beats the Hell outta Thurman.
I don't jock Floyd victims, that's the thing...it is YOU who actually puts them down because they're Floyd victims. I'm objective. I just look at the abilities of the fighters and their styles...you base d your predictions on whether you like them or not. I tend to think Cotto beats Thurman as I think he's a better fighter. I just think that given that Thurman is a mover who throws very hard bombs from time to time...might trouble Cotto.
Cotto beats Thurman. Punishes him and gives him a bad beating too. Keith won't take the boy shots too well. He'd get stopped late. However, I would pick Spence over Cotto.
Cotto's always done surprisingly well with movement/"boxers". It's pressure and stamina that's always been problematic for him. He's always done a good job at cutting the ring, and always had a solid jab. I dunno how effective Thurman's movement would be after Cotto cuts the ring and digs his body.
don't forget the Trout fight :( Good match up. I think that Thurman starts fast, but that Cotto gets to him in the middle rounds
