I'm only watching the first trailer. I don't want to see too much previewed and have the film spoiled.

Smart decision. This trailer not only gave away the plot, but also probably the climax of the film.

They can go any direction they want with this movie. They can make the humans win if they want. Or they can create a multi-species society, where apes and humans marry eachother.

    LOL. ´Spoil´.

    Get over yourselves.
Only an idiot would not know how this series of movies turns out.
I could be told exactly how this movie ends, read the exact screenplay and watch tons of trailers, including the last 15 minutes....yet still go to the cinema and fucking enjoy it.

    Why?

    Because I´m not a movie-spoiler-sensitive-snowflake-faggot-nigga, thats why.

    Laters.

didn't enjoy I, and turned II off halfway through, after some particularly over-the-top scene. both of them have got great production values but made-for-TV-melodrama scripts.

Planet of the Apes is perhaps the ONLY franchise of today that I feel is damn good. I feel the first two were both very good, and I have a feeling this might be the best.

    Yes, I'm seeing it.

    Ditto - bought advanced tickets.
Big fan of the first franchise from 1969-1973 even though the last 3 were patchy, at best.

I think I heard they are already working on the 4th of this new franchise

The first film was actually very good. I enjoyed it the first time I saw it and enjoy it each time I rewatch it (which is reasonably often). The second was daft. The horse-riding, machine-gun toting apes were some of the daftest things I ever saw. It was vaguely watchable, but it was fluff. I'll probably watch this one, and I might even go to see it, even though it seems pretty obvious what the ending will bring.

There is no way that was Charlton Heston's hand at the end. He was just 47 when filmed that movie and that hand's wrinkles belongs to an octagenarian! Damned producers, DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!

Watched last night: cinematography was breath-taking, the costumes amazing and the landscape was almost too good.
That said, there wasn´t much in the way of a ´war´ but that along with the 21/2 hour running time didnt ruin it.

The storyline is good - I ike how they are evolving it into something that might resemble the first Planet Of The Apes movie back in 1969: apes run the planet, while whatever is left of humans slowly degenerate into (literally) dumb animals.
This along with the introduction of Ceaser´s son, Cornelieus and Nova as the mute girl, leaves it setup for the 4th (and final?) installment - Im guessing the 4th movie will just be aptly titled Planet Of The Apes?

I didn't mind the horse-riding as the apes rode horses in the original 1968 film.

This is the whole point: apes take on all human characteristics and behaviours, humans do likewise with the apes'...

Yup. Pretty much my exact impressions. However those elements (Cornelius, Nova) do not fit with the original Apes saga timeline since the arrival of those characters happened centuries after Caesar.

Yes but these series of events don't match those of the original movies, e.g. Earth isn't wiped out by nuclear holocaust but a virus....the events arent centuries ahead but a decade or two...

IF they decide to continue the series, Im interested to see how a fully grown Cornelius, Zira and Nova fit into the next movies, where 20-30 years on, the Apes>Humans existence is pretty complete...of course, I doubt they'll be a Taylor or Brent turning up from the past via wormhole...because Earth will still resemble Earth, unless they do away with the "what planet are we on?" scenario anyway...

Unless there's some kind of 'power-struggle' between Apes (see, Bad Ape character in this movie to connect the dots), which is the cause of a global nuclear holocaust?

War for the planet of the apes is an excellent movie and I think it's better than Rise of the planet of the apes and Dawn of the planet of the apes. Next movie is set up perfectly now; apes to take control of the planet. Will they opt to go for humans to be the slaves next time round though? If we're talking about following on from this last movie. But from what we saw, the young girl was the only surviving human as the avalanche and end battle probably killed everyone else.

Thanks for the spoilers, it’s definitely better to find out the ending from word of mouth as opposed to seeing it in the theater like you were able to.
