Nothing. I just felt like typing that in order to keep you in check. besides I hate anti-boxing guys posting on a boxing forum.

 

I'm not anti-boxing, i'm anti-corruption. The powers that be have been running boxing into the ground for the longest time. It's time for a change.

 

If you're anti-corruption, then you might as well stop watching sports in general, because they're all corrupt.

There's well documented corruption in the NBA, NFL, MLB, and FIFA that doesn't get mentioned NEARLY as much as boxing because the powers that be hold great influence over all the sports media platforms. Boxing doesn't have that level of influence or organization, so the media is free to tear apart our sport at every opportunity.

A network like ESPN has billion dollar deals with the NBA, and NFL, so obviously the corruption that goes on in those sports is gonna be swept under the rug.

And if you think there's no corruption in the UFC/MMA, then I have a bridge to sell you...

 

We literally have a criminal running our country, one of the most corrupted human beings alive, and yall are worried about the corruption levels of guys like Arum and Haymon.

That's because the level of corruption in boxing is unlike anything seen in any other sport. It's amazing how corrupt boxing is.

 

A big part of that is because it's one of the easiest to corrupt.

I don't believe that at all.

I think guys like Roger Goodell, and David Stern are/were just as, if not MORE corrupt than a DK or Arum. More slimey too, cause Arum/King never really even tried to HIDE that they were corrupt... whereas a Goodell/Stern would have you believe that they were clean men running clean organizations.

And then there's also the absurd corruption in FIFA.

Now boxing has big competition from MMA. You would think that they would be trying to fix their problems but instead, things are getting worse. I still have passion for boxing but I have very little hope left that the sport will be cleaned up. I am not expecting boxing to be perfect, just not the cesspool that it currently is.

 

The UFC is still a BABY compared to boxing. Give them time. Corruption will be exposed. Guys like Dana White and his cronies are almost NEVER EVER clean.

Once you accept the fact that all major sports are corrupt, you'll sleep better at night and be able to enjoy them.

 

Let's be clear about one thing though, boxing will never be DEAD.... because it's a global sport.

You'd have a better chance of seeing American football die in 20-30 years than ever seeing boxing completely disappear. Ohh and I do think the NFL will die one day.

MMA has become a more popular sport than boxing in the US, but boxing is still by far globally more popular.

Goddamn American arrogance is comical.

 

Both can and should co-exist.
Pesonally, MMA is just ahead of Boxing for me now....mainly because all the top names fight each other, dont pad their records, and fight regularly...plus the UFC really knows how to put on a fight-night and its more global in that, it puts on big fights in loads of countries...

 

But where can a person actually turn up and watch the top fighters?

Fancy going to get a glimpse of Lomachenko or Crawford or Golovkin or Ward?
Fine, just fly on over to Las Vegas or New York.

At least the UFC gives you chance to watch the top boys at various cities/states and countries...

 

They can co-exist, but for some reason, it's always the MMA fan boys who feel more threatened.

MMA fan boys are the ones who act like there can be only one combat sport.

 

MMA needs a truly TRANSCENDENT star. If by some miracle McGregor beats Floyd, he can become that, but for the moment, he's no transcendent star.

If we made a list of the most famous/popular atheletes OF ALL TIME, three of them are boxers - Ali, Tyson, and Louis.

 

Four.....because you have to also include Sugar Ray Leonard

 

I dunno if Leonard is a top 10 all time famous athlete. Probably in the top 25.

But Leonard's not a global icon like Ali and Tyson.

 

I dont think its possible. The only reason Boxing has transcendent stars is a) they go 25-30 without a loss b) look good doing it and c) trash-talk to heighten their value and crossover into the General Public.

Can you imagine guys like Golovkin, Canelo, Lomachenko, Crawford, Ward, etc doing that? Theyre the best fighters on the planet....yet there global status is way way down....

I asked a mate of mine in the UK (who is at least somewhat General Public-esque knowledgable about boxing and boxers to a degree - big fight names, tbh) - hed never heard of either Golovkin or Canelo....

 

A lot of my close friends/family members didn't know who McGregor was until this fight was announced.
