In the pole fight, the spifka guy sat on the ropes with his hands down. Didn't even try to avoid the other guy's punches. I will watch again but it looked obviously staged to me.

I just re-watched the Pole fight.

All I have to ask is... were you drinking Saturday night?

Are you saying the guy did NOT lay on the ropes with hands down?

Yeah, that tends to happen when a fighter is a combination of tired/hurt/disoriented.

This is one the biggest reaches ever on your part. The Pole fight didn't look fixed in any capacity. What would be the INCENTIVE of fixing such a MINOR matchup anyway?

Looked like a clean, legit stoppage to everybody else... because it was.

Some other people are saying that the Figueroa-Guerrero fight was fixed. It has to do with Guerrero's reaction to the punches he was hit with. He's never reacted like that before and I'm not sure if a fighter becoming shot is going to all of a sudden change his punch resistance (especially to the face.) On the other hand Figueroa was landing some flush uppercuts. And because he switch hits and even switches stances mid exchange he sometimes punches and torques at strange angles. It could have been that Guerrero's style was tailor made for Figueroa.

Figuero is notorious for being a shit puncher. Even at lower weights. And guerrero couldn't have played into his hands more in terms of his approach. My take is the stunt was done with sufficient realism to fool most, but on careful consideration, it is a definite possibility it was fixed.

Figueroa is 27 and looks 16. When he met Mike Tyson he told Tyson he was a fighter and Tyson didn't believe him (saying he was a young kid.) He had to tell him he was an undefeated champ who was in the fight of the year and show him a clip of his fight with Arakawi.

This is probably the stupidest thing you've ever posted in here and that's saying a lot.

Twerp, are you telling me a guy who has been in as many wars as Guerrero has and gone the distance with guys like Thurman is all of the sudden going to react like he was hit with a cannonball every time a guy who (as Double L said) was as shit puncher at lightweight connects and that's all down to him being shot now?

I pretty much gave both sides as far as the fixed/not fixed scenario. Figueroa was landing solid shit and Guerrero's face was fucked up but I think he may have been suffering whiplash from the reaction of all those punches.

Do you think pro boxing is like training to be a marine and you get tougher the more you go through?

Did you even see Guerrero almost get stopped by Aaron Herrera who had like 8 ko's in like 30 fights?

TBH, no. I was traveling when that fight happened. I caught some highlights. I'll reiterate that in my original post, I gave both sides of the coin as far as that fight being fixed. I honestly don't think it was. It's still surprising to me to see Figueroa come up in weight after a long layoff and slap the ghost around the ring like a two bit hoe. Some fighters really benefit from coming up in weight so maybe that's what Figueroa needed.
