Yeah, Ward struggled mightily with the Fabled Farmer and his intangibles. Lmao

Personally, I don't think Ward has trouble with Calzaghe. Ward is a crisper counterpuncher and can fight on the inside. I just think he's better skilled than Joe.

He'd be the best defensive fighter Joe would have seen. Plus Calzaghe's alleged hand speed I always saw as overrated. Ward blocks those wide slaps and counters him to death.

    I'd favour Ward.

He looks intense though. Like he knows any one of those slaps could kill his opponent.

I laughed when he said Joe was afraid of him. Said Joe got hit then changed his game plan mid fight.

Calzaghe will win but will he get the decision? It'll be close.

Ward has a better style...but Calzaghe was so fast and awkward and had so much stamina...plus he was a southpaw. People underrated just how difficult it was to beat Calzaghe. It'll be close though...very close.

You can't say Calzaghe is crap just because of his awkward slapping style. Lacy thought that and got utterly humiliated. Very difficult to beat a fast, awkward, volume punching slapper.

This slapper thing is silly. Yeah he did it but when he HAD to shorten up his punches, for example against Kessler, he really could put them together.

I've been following boxing for a loooong time and Calzaghe is one of the few fighters I've seen that I think would be a nightmare for any style. You rarely see guys that can maintain such a ridiculous pace and with SPEED for 12 rounds in a fight...not to mention how awkward he is...constantly spinning and pivoting and throwing punches from weird angles. He also has a fair bit of power; it's not easy to drop Eubank with one punch.

Well put, his boxing IQ has always been incredibly underrated.

Ward is an excellent fighter, I've actually grown to respect and appreciate him more in recent years but I've always maintained Calzaghe beats him. I've always been fair with Joe, he absolutely deserves criticism for his reign at 168, it was for the most part appalling. Ward on the other hand deserves maximum credit for challenging himself. Stylewise though, Joe is a nightmare for him. He's a stylistic nightmare for pretty much anybody with the odd few exceptions.
