You said the fans in Europe claim he's top 3, implying that most think it's the case. Nobody rates him that high, bar maybe a few imbecile.
Top 3 is ridiculous and indefeansible though claiming he's not top 15 is as bad. He's probably top 10 in terms of accomplishment, but the guy is/was so weak mentally, that I wouldn't bet on him against most of the ATG

amen. The guy gets insanely overrated because of his loss against an old fat unmotivated Lewis, and blowing out some bums. When your best win his either Corey Sanders or Samuel Peter, you have a shit of a resume

I agree. He has the same amount of quitting losses as Frazier, Ali etc pussies and I wouldn't pick them over anyone good

Agreed, and it isn't all about imagos either, especially not about ones that are based on imaginary history

lol it's always funny to see the wlad superfan claim that he wasn't a mentally weak fighter, even though everybody but them think it's the case. No point in arguing with such a disillusioned bunch

Whilst I don't necessarily disagree with this, it's not like there is much else he could have done. If you're a super-heavyweight in a shit era you're stuck there, you can't move up or down. The fact is he acquitted himself very well and better than most against the one great fighter he faced. Yes he lost but he was never given the chance to avenge it, whether you think he deserves a rematch (which imo in any other fight which ended the same way would have been the case), that's irrelevant. My point is, the Klitschko's get loads of shit for their competition when there isn't much they could have done about it, and they get massively downgraded because one of them lost on a cut to another great fighter. What if that one great fighter just happened to be all wrong for them? Does that mean they stand no chance against any other ATG? It's silly. See, this is the thing, Joe Frazier was clearly and without question a great fighter, but let's say he has the Klitschko's competition (bar Lewis), no Ali, and the only other great fighter in his era is George Foreman. I guarantee you that guy is looked back on as a FUCKING BUM on this board. No question about it.

While he wasn't in the best era of HW, theres was a ton of better fighters than the guy he fought. The guy was a very good and tough to beat, but he's massively overrated. He looked like shit against Byrd, even before the injury.

Personally the thing that annoys me the most is that they're always lumped in together as though they were the same fighter when they were very different. They had completely different skills, attributes and styles. Vitali is hard to rate in all honesty because his career overlapped one all time great fighter, a couple, maybe three good fighters and an absolute mountain of complete crud. There aren't many fighters post-Dempsey who had such an abject level of competition standing in front of them, but I will always give credit to somebody who loses so few rounds, it's the best barometer you have in that situation.

Maybe the causual do this, but I barely see any boxing fans doing so. They all acknowledge that wlad was the more talented fighter, but lacked the balls and chin of his brother.

As for Vitaly, let's not forget that his ''retirement'' was really fishy. Seems like he was avoiding the Rahman fight, as weird as it sounds

In reality, we need to wait for twenty years or so to rate Wlad correctly. Time gives perspective, it blurs the details but sharpens the whole picture.

When we think of Holmes now, we don't think all the novices he fought as a champ nor the questionable decision, nor the guys he didn't want to face. Instead we remember his heart and the jarring jab.

With Ali, the image we have of him isn't a guy who dropped rounds against Chuvalo and got troubled by Mildenberger. We remember the sizzling combinations and dance moves.

Lennox Lewis is living through the change, from a soft-chinned wimp if a weak era to perhaps the most complete heavyweight ever.

In twenty years we'll see what is the lasting image of Wlad. Is it his clinching, his losses, or the guy who hardly lost rounds in ten years.

Time will tell. Right now his bashing is as worthless as my nut-cupping of him

Made the right decision to quit and I always said he should have packed in after the Haye fight.

If Vitali get's no credit for the Lewis fight, why should Joshua get any for nearly losing to a guy 13 years his senior.........it's madness.

Keep up with that logic and before too long nobody will have a career that we can't pick holes in.

    That's Already the Case...

w/the Requisite Agenda and Motivation, ANY Fighter's Resume Can Be Nitpicked, Unfortunately...

REED's Right in the Middle of the EXTREMES that Plague Wlad...

Did He have the BEST Chin or an UNBREAKABLE Will, No. By that Same Token, a "Chinny", "Mentally Weak" Fighter DOESN'T Perform as Wlad Did Against Joshua, in the 11th Hour of his Boxing Career, No Less...

The TRUTH About Wlad is Somewhere in the Middle...

Name 5 BETTER Heavyweights in Terms of OFFENSIVE Skill/Talent???...Name 5 Heavyweights Capable of Bouncing Back from Devastating KO Losses, Tweaking their Style and RESUMING a Dominant Position within the Division, as Wlad Did???...

Dude Flirted w/Joe Louis' Record for Title Defenses...That CAN'T Be Minimized, and Let's Not Pretend Wlad was Facing Tough Man Competitors Either...He Consistently Fought the Best Available Guys, Even If Those Guys Didn't "Wow" Anybody...

What I liked best about him was the number of young undefeated guys he kept fighting.............even when it was clear he was past it.

If I recall correctly, he finished on 4 guys that were undefeated.

One fight doesnt erase the rest of his career. Sure it was refreshing to see him show some heart against AJ (though he blw it at the end by reverting to cautious wlad), but it doesnt magically erase him falling apart like cheap toilet paper agaonst Sanders, the absurd quit job against Brewster, flopping to the canvas for barely no reason against peter, the incalculable clinches, the shameless performance against fury .

Hell, even you told to Irish, after the fury fight that wlad didn't deserved his fanhood.

Still, the guy is a top 10 ever imo, but that's a testimony of his marvelous skills and talents, cause the guy wad as cowardly a hof could be

Wlad was never cowardly. So say so is either absolute ignorance of his career or an agenda that you have against him. Even though Wlad has been multiple times in his career and stopped. It was never from a lack of trying. The dude never finished a fight on his back or on his stool.

you're showing your ignorance once again. He blatantly quitted against brewster (made no with his head) and quitted mentally against Fury.

The Sanders Fight Didn't Have Anything to Do w/Heart or Lack Thereof...Sanders HURT Wlad Early and NEVER Let him Off the Hook...That was an Ass Whipping, Period...

@ the Time, the 1st Peter Bout Seemed Like a CASH-OUT Fight for Wlad, Who Was Still a Bit SHAKY from the Sanders and Brewster Losses...Nonetheless, Wlad Surprised Most and Won Unanimously...

The Fury Fight was Indeed SHAMEFUL, but it's Hard for REED to DEFINE a Guy, w/MORE Than 20 Successful Title Defenses, No Less, by the Couple of Times he Didn't Have the Stomach for the Fight...

Clearly, Wlad HAD the Stomach for the Fight More Times than he Didn't...

Again, REED's In the MIDDLE of Your Take and That of Irish/Ugo...No, Wlad WASN'T a Blood and Guts Warrior Willing to Go Out on his Shield, No Matter the Cost...But He WASN'T a Straight Up BITCH Either...

He did not quit against Brewster. He was gassed out and was getting beat down. How would that constitute quitting? Did you even see the fight?

Man sometimes you can be such a clown.

beat down lol, he got hit with aproximatively two punches in the whole fight.

He definitively quitted against Brewster, he even made no with his head while going back to his corner. Only an imbecile or a groupie can't realise this.

Most of his fight, he faced so little adversity that there was no reason for his gutless side to surface. Thing is, as soon as he faced adversity, he folded, bar the Peter fight, but even then, it wasn't really adversity (dropped to the canvas for barely anything, and wasn't really hit clean).

Yes the Sanders was a asswhopping, but as soon as he got hit the first time, he stopped fighting, and barely threw any punches. Clear case of a guy who's heartless

Anyway, Tell me of a HOF fighter who had less heart than Wlad ?

Of course the guy wasn,t a complete coward, but he's about as cowardly a great fighter could be.

He made a "no" with his head while going back to his corner? If so, then why didn't he quit between rounds? Please explain this to us. Or are you the only one who saw it? If not, please provide some evidence of it.

He's doing it when the ref is stopping the fight @ 4:50

And prior to that the guy was doing everything in his power for the ref to stop it with his body language.

    Of Course it Means Something...

In the Vast Majority of Cases, a Fighter is NEVER More Confident or More Difficult to Beat, than While in Possession of his "O"...Especially in the Realm of World Class Fighters...

It's Not the BE All to END All, but Being the Guy to Administer that 1st Taste of Professional Defeat is More than Meaningless, for Sure, Considering the Number of Guys Wlad Did this To...

You are seeing things homie. Wlad never waved his head "no" to the ref.

You need to stop pushing your agenda.
