This fraud Gervonta Davis is getting all the mainstream attention.

Davis has already become a bigger mainstream name than three ELITE African American fighters, Ward, Crawford, and Spence, and I've been telling people for the longest that Davis has fraud written all over him.

Like AB, I've noticed that Gervonta has crossed over in the Hip Hop culture's awareness, and thus, is way more popular among young blacks than Dre, TC, and EJ are.

I'm pretty disappointed in this, as he's being hyped as the heir apparent to Floyd, when really, he'll never be on the level to even shine Floyd's shoes.

Davis is a disaster waiting to happen. I predict that he'll be exposed on the world class within the next year or so.

Loma would literally toy with him, and Mikey would ice him inside of 4 rounds.

    Yes. That would be him.

Been called the next Tyson. Been called the next Floyd. Looks closer to the next James Kirkland.

There's nothing to be impressed about.

Good power in his left hand, that's about it. Mind you, good power at 130. But seems he's outgrown 130. Who knows if his power will translate to lightweight.

At 135, not only does Garcia murder him, I'd pick Linares and Robert Easter to beat him.

I think Kirkland is the perfect example.

This guy doesn't seem to have the tools to me. Did anyone catch his expression when he realized that the crowd was booing him? He looked like he was ready to cry.

His last fight, he looks really good, but I think he's defo a Broner or similar. He doesn't like not getting his way.

And associating with Floyd is not a great outcome. His attitude means he might be a bit of a cunt, despite good skills.

There's other quality African American fighters.

Thurman. Jermall Charlo. Gary Russell Junior is alright. Andrade, despite losing a lot of momentum in recent years, is talented. Potentially Erickson Lubin, and Marcus Browne in a few years.

Spence and Crawford are the only two whom I believe have future HOF ability... but surprises can always emerge. Spence was always higly touted, but Crawford came out of nowhere.

    Ward is already a HOFmer.

Other than Being Light Skinned, Short, Stocky Souf'Paws, there's NO Validity Whatsoever to the Kirkland Analogy...

Kirkland's a CRUDE Brawler...Gervonta Has his Limitations for Sure, but he's Guillermo Rigondeaux in Comparison...

I don't even know what division this Devonta bitch fight in...I just told him no *person* with a bitch named Gervonta beating Lomachenko....so IT'S a BET!!!...

He might be bigger n stronger than Lomachenko but he look like poop on Saturday.

My comparison is not so much in the boxing ability per se. My comparison is based on the fact that I think both fighters rely too much on their power and when that power doesn't bail them out, they turn into mental
    Midgets.

Kirkland beat a couple of decent fighters, Joel Julio, Brian Vera, and Angulo. That's three guys better than anyone Davis has beaten.

Kirkland will only been remembered for the Canelo KO, but by then his career was ruined by inactivity and suspect dedication.

A younger Kirkland would have still lost to Canelo, but would given a better account of himself.

I'm with Reed on this one, Davis is far better than Kirkland. Never thought much of Kirkland, Davis is clearly world class, good power, fast hands, judges distance well, decent defence. No comparison for me.

I technically never said he WASN'T better than Kirkland. But on the spectrum, he's damn sure closer to Kirkland than he is Tyson. And he's gotten Tyson comparisons.

Well aye, but it's a REALLY small number of boxers that can ever be legitimately compared to Tyson.

Since Tyson everyone has been looking for the next Tyson...just like after Ali we were getting countless Ali comparisons ( Tyrell Biggs, Herbie Hide, Larry Donald etc).

Did Kirkland self destruct in the mind or was he never good? I remember a long time ago when he was rated and look real good, but fell off the cliff of awesomeness. I assumed he had mental problems - he pulled guns out on people.

This was when Codrington was next Julian Jackson. That lasted 35 seconds

    A combination of both.

He was both a headcase and he wasn't blessed with much talent.

Isn't Kirkland known more for that loss to Ishida than the loss to Canelo? I mean Kirkland was expected to be KO'd by Canelo and was favoured to beat Ishida.

Davis needs to sort his shit out though if he wants to go places. Can't be missing weight and not caring about it, then showboating and looking like crap in his next fight.

Kirkland was woefully out of shape in the Ishida fight. Not even speculation... the man's body looked like he had only started training in the dressing room.

Is Andre Ward still not one of the most underappreciated boxers in the sport? I actually thought Kovalev should have won the first fight, but once Ward knocked off that ring rust and had some rounds against quality opposition he showed himself to be superior to Kovalev, and I would take him to win a third fight.

Just think that guy does a lot of really skillful things in a boxing ring.

What do you mean? He's talking about Americans - Spence, Ward, Crawford... Not Anthony Joshua, James DeGale and Nicolas Walters
