That would be beautiful to watch. Here's a blast from the past that will make you laugh, or cringe. Houston: Margarito vs. boxing's best welterweights
Wow, he picked margarito over odh, trinidad and benitez. Thing is, with loaded gloves, those picks are not as crazy as they sound.
I think it's important to note that even IF Tony was loading his gloves in EVERY GODDAMN FIGHT (which I have difficulty believeing) that he STILL lost to Paul Williams, and damn near lost to Josh Clottey. Therefore, it didn't take some special talent to whup even a loaded Margarito. Even the best version of the Margarito, the one from the first Cotto fight, soundly loses to DLH, and ESPECIALLY Trinidad and Benitez. Why? Because those fighters were a lot better than Cotto. BTW - no way in Holy Hell does Margarito see the final bell against Leonard and Napoles. Those guys wouldn't be able to miss him.
Jackson would have sent Margarito to an early grave...and I'm not one to say things like that, I leave that sort of thing to xplosive but in this case it's true. Margarito was just a big punching bag with chin with toughness and a decent punch. many guys would have used him for target practice.
LMAO!!!!! Absolutely hilarious. Margarito needed 11 rounds to stop Cotto yet he stops Trinidad in 6??? No need to address this.
Yeah, that's pretty comical. Little Miggy didn't like pressure, and was never a huge puncher. Tito would've gotten a hard-on at the thought of a guy like Marg coming straight at him to trade. Marg would have lasted more rounds than Campas, but the ending would look just like the Campas fight.
I don't think Margarito beats any of those guys. No way he goes 7 rounds with Hearns. I don't care how tough he is or how great his chin is. No welterweight could take that many face first flush right hands from Tommy. Benitez would school him. Leonard would school and stop him. Napoles would school him. Griffith and Ross would humiliate him. Basilio was tougher and more skilled than him. Oscar, whom I detested would have been too fast and too offensively talented for Margarito, even if he again fades late.
Margarito uses his slick southpaw defense and fast legs to keep Jackson off balance and eke out a close decision
